Just stumbled across this. A bit of fun.
Which former Rovers player (uniquely) played a First Class County Cricket match at the same ground that he was playing professional football?
(No googling)

Chris Balderstone

Chris Balderstone some athlete ⚽️⚽️

Ground at a guess, County Ground Northampton
-
Or Bramhall lane.?

Ted Hemsley. Bramall Lane.

Ted Hemsley. Bramall Lane.
Very good DBR correct
-
Chris Balderstone of course was famous for his playing first class county cricket and pro football for us on the same day.
Ted was playing for Sheff U when he played Cricket for Worcestershire v Yorkshire at Bramall Lane.
Ted scored 1 goal for us in his 30 odd appearances and that was at Rochdale in the mid 70’s in a miserable 3-1 defeat. For some odd reason I remember his goal very well.

Charlie Williams.

Probs a good chance Alonso Drake did at Brammall lane

Chris Balderstone, Chesterfield.

Seem to remember him playing in a midweek pre season friendly at BV and it wasn't 100% he was going to make it due to the cricket. Might even have been his first appearance?? I've slept alot since then.
Wasn't there another cricketer who played for Lincoln around that time? I'll let others have a stab at that.

I know Ian Botham played for Scunny.
-
Phil Neale , Lincoln City and Worcestershire
-
I got Ted Hemsley’s autograph when he played for Worcestershire at Elm Avenue
-
David Bairstow turned out a few times for Bradford City reserves. A typical 'bustling' centre forward
-
He played for Leicestershire and Rovers on the same day, Rovers kicked off at 7-30 pm,

Very good Shout, started off his footy career at Rovers, but it looks like he left Sheff U in 1907, and started playing Cricket for Yorkshire in 1909….
If you were there Ldr and know otherwise do let us know…

I thought that this thread was about Duggie Brown when I first saw the title.
-
Was it Ted Hemsley? a really good all rounder for Worcester and played a lot of games for Sheffield United played for us at the end of his career as a full back.
Arthur Milton and Willie Watson both played football and cricket for England.

I thought that too, Idler.
Either that or someone's broken wind.
