Title: Transfer Deadline Day
Post by: DonnyBazR0ver on September 01, 2025, 08:37:01 am
Put all your rumours and deals here affecting incomings and outgoings for us and our rivals and any others of interest.

Will we end the day with all our stars intact? Will our peripheral players secure loans or transfers away?,

I'm expecting Barnsley to lose at least one of their stars today, but will they be ready to pounce for replacements?

Do we expect the likes of Huddersfield and Luton to supplement their ranks even further?

It was reputed to be only £600k up front. I think Lincoln need to see more up front!

Is Street 125 times less of a player then Isak who's finally gone to Liverpool for £125m ?

DFPs take on today.

I find that mental. They rate him as one of the best mids in the league and he's been linked to Prem teams hasn't he. Seems his injury record isn't great nowadays though.

Hes making the kind of move Whiteman should have made a couple of years ago, which would have sent some money our way.

Maybe they will tweak it - add a good sell on clause or something will surely secure it.  I can't see Street turning down the chance to play in the Championship..... which Luton will surely return to next season.

Surely Ironside would be a huge asset to half of league two clubs.

The group of players who are probably on our available list would all be very good L2 players. Surely they can’t be happy been so far down the pecking order and want to go. If it’s a loan they’d stay on the same wage so no issue there

If you believe what is written on the DFP website, no one has been knocking on Grant’s door asking to leave.  So not too unhappy, perhaps they accept the squad being what it is.?

The role he played season before last was immense. Up until January he carried most of our attacking hopes and was a warrior for the whole of that season which produced the winning run towards the play offs. I'm sure he'll never be forgotten for his contribution.

Who knows fully why he couldn't reproduce it last season, so it was a shame we didn't see more of that fire and desire.

Very best of luck to him and thank you.

It’s the first of September FFS.!  OK Hanlan might not have got going yet, and may well come good.  If GM has Joe down the pecking order, then a move away may be ideal for the player.  Good luck to him.

When Bobby did his ligaments Joe was a big help to him a young lad of 18 years old.
Took him to one side and really helped him come to terms with the injury, one he had suffered early in his own career.
All the best Joe, you did yourself and the club proud and gave us something to look forward to, a big building block in our resurrection as a club from some poor times, and never gave anything less than full commitment to every game. Thanks for the memories.

Really disappointed to see Joe depart, he is far better than Hanlan.
Hard to understand what’s happened here because Grant was always saying last year   that he considered we had two of the best number nine in the division, plus Joe proved he could handle L1 before he came to us.
Felt really good up to now, but totally gutted now.

So we’ve brought 10 players in this window, yes some yet to hit the ground running, and apart from a few lads on loan we’re letting one senior pro leave, and you’re gutted.?  Despite being in the 3rd round of the league cup and 13 points from the first six league games.?

Fair enough to be disappointed in ironside leaving, but “totally gutted”.??

Didn't have a good time of it last season but you'll never hear me say a bad word about him. A proper pro who always made you proud when he was in the red and white hoops. Had a big impact in his short time here, as many have said, without that penalty at Sutton, where would we be now? Who knows. But thanks to Joe we don't need to ask.

Go well and smash it, Joe lad.

And that’s another reason why I and it would seem many more rovers supporters are concerned over this decision.
We get rid of Joe, and yet we keep others who have no chance of contributing in this league.
So many supporters have taken the time to go onto the tranmere social media sites to comment on Joe and are sorry that he has gone.
I trust in Grant, but certainly not in this case, we are somewhat in the lap of the gods now regarding that central striker basically hoping vast improvement in Hanlan or Toyosi turns out to be a signature signing.

Concern is one thing, but the tone of some folks on here implies that it’s a disaster - with Hanlon not showing much (yet) and the new lad not even kicked a ball.

People were on here well over half way last season going on about the team waiting to “click” but we won the league.  Now I’m not saying this will happen again this time, but surely the manager and the squad need a bit more time than the start of September to be judged this way.?

You can't always choose who leaves. McCann has handled things very professionally without burning any bridges. You can't force people out who are under contract, but he left the door open for players to approach him if they weren't happy.

There's always the possibility players will just sit on their contracts while others might want to play, if not here then elsewhere....IF someone else wants them.

I really dont get it, I can understand gutted that Joe has left, nice lad, played well a few seasons ago etc.

He hasn't offered much for quite sometime, now you give Hanlon I think its 4 and odd games in total yet Joe's great season he scored 2 goals in his first 11. Remembering very few last year.

For God's sake give Hanlon a chance! Why do you always need a scape goat.

Yes sorry to see Joe go but then you dont need to pick someone else out to have a go at, Hanlon doesn't deserve it.

Mccann says he is taking time to learn how we play.

Im sure this will be the same people who moaned about Broadbent or anyone else for that matter.

Mccann knows best.

GM gets more right than he does wrong, but Joe was the only true target man option we had in the squad. That option is no longer available, so we move onto some other way of playing.

Why does there always have to be a target man though... we've been playing plenty of good football without having a big man up top...

We already have done Alan including when Rob Street joined us. Fewer teams now play with a 'Target man' preferring to play through the lines at pace, rotating attacking players across the front line, creating over loads etc. That doesn't mean to say good crosses into the box will go to waste. Our goals compilation from last season highlights our strengths and the way McCann wants to play. Don’t get me wrong, I like the option of a plan B but we'll have to do it without Joe...who up to now, couldn't get in the matchday squad for league games.

I see Luton did alot of business yesterday which is maybe a sign of bad planning and they weren't as good as think they were.

Absolutely guys. We bemoaned the absence of a settled team and questioned his selections in the first half of the season. It wasn’t until after the close of the January window, and the Cup completions were concluded, did we see more of being able to name the first 8 or 9
On the team sheet.

Likely this first half of the season will be no different as he rotates the squad for the Cups and explores different combinations and formations. It will be fascinating to watch and maybe frustrating at times but it's all a means to a stronger end to a season
