Title: When the rules don’t apply ???
Post by: In the box on September 02, 2025, 01:38:36 pm
Surly if your Man Utd you would take issue with this as your more likely to win this and get into
Europe or maybe not
Grimsby fine 20k with 10k suspended for fielding ineligible player …
The EFL said Grimsby self-reported the breach once they discovered the error the day after the match.

The EFL said the issuing of a fine followed precedent following a comprehensive review of all the evidence and considering prior decisions in respect of offences in the League Cup.

The EFL’s board determined the club’s non-compliance was not deliberate, with no intention to deceive or mislead.

In 2023, Barnsley were kicked out of the FA Cup after fielding an ineligible player in a first-round replay against Horsham.

So, tell us what the chain of events were that led to Barnsley's expulsion?

My understanding from what I've just heard is Grinsby missed the cut off time by one minute.

The judgement from the EFL seems to reflect the mitigating circumstances.

Happened 3 times before in the EFL cup and all were fined so following the precedent already set for this competition - the FA cup however is different

They just kept the best side in the competition, what realistic chance would Manchester United have of winning the cup.

If im honest if Man Utd were to complain about it then it would be an absolute embarrassment to them as a football club especially when the guy came on in the 71st minute and Man u went on to score twice to take it to penalties, on top of that the same player missed his penalty too.

Closet Man U fan alert

Missing the cut off by 1 minute and you are suggesting they should be kicked out the competition for it? Come on pull the other one
