Always wondered if it's undisclosed to stop fans from moaning about the fee?

It usually gets leaked in the end. Probably Tranmere fans will want to know how much he cost them.

I'd say its pretty much irrelevant financially. What would be the difference let's say between a 20k vs a 100k fee? The wages of an average league one player are far more than either figure per year.

I'd guess it's quite difficult to put figures on these kinds of moves anyway what with all the caveats a lot of them come with.

I’d guess any fee would be related to loyalty fees due to Joe ie to cover the remaining monies owed on his contract with us. I think the buying club cover these. May be wrong though.

Yes GazLaz they have paid the remainder of his contract.
Not sure if they have paid anything else on top of that?
Also was Joe offered more money to play in L1?
I didn’t see anything where his contract was extended and wages increased for L1, so is this the reason why he has left?

If I had to hedge my bets I’d say the fee would be around the 50k mark. Obviously we don’t know what Joe’s loyalty bonus was remaining on his contract. Assuming he’s maybe 2k per week with us with just under a year remaining. Obviously must have been substantial enough for Tranmere to give him effectively 3 years with them.

If Billy Sharp got injured & Joe came in as first choice CF & went on to score the winning goals for us that eventually saw us through to automatic promotion or promotion via the play offs, then £1.25m would be a pittance for his services. Or should I say, would have been.

I've always been sure it is,but that doesn't necessarily mean sold cheaply,it can also be to stop fans moaning they have paid more than they think they should.

If it is related to paying off contract and bonuses surely it is to prevent releasing the players contract details through the media.
