Just wondering if anyone has spoken with the club/LNER to see if there was any plan to put on another train after the 11.33pm train which is currently the last train? Or whether they are adding more capacity to the 11.33pm train? There are currently no tickets available to buy for that train.
-
I'd find another route tbh. No way they're sticking a train on just for us
-
They ran two extra when we played arsenal away.
-
I imagine it would sell out and LNER make some more £££ if they did. I'd instantly drop driving for it
-
Iv booked parking, I can’t be arsed with the hassle of getting back to Kings Cross at that time of night.
-
coach all the way for me.....
-
Its a fair comment - LNER should be approached - but by whom?
-
These days it takes months for train companies to add extra trains into the schedule and I shudder to think what costs would be involved. They ain't putting on an extra train for an unknown number of Rovers fans for just one night.
-
It all depends where you live of course ! Best bet for Doncastrians is our ever faithful Paul Mayfield and the coach service at £30 quid return!
-
Trains are a disgrace. Remember after the final in Cardiff? Not one extra train. Not one.
In the 50's LNER had a train leaving Donny station every 2 minutes for an hour and a half, I think it was, after the Leger. They did it every year

The club can but ask. After all they were major sponsors and have the big Hitachi depot in town servicing their trains.

When was the last time you were on a train?
Currently there are about 40 direct trains to London from Doncaster on a weekday. They are all modern Hitachi class 800's which are clean, efficient and very reliably on time.
I use them regularly from Edinburgh to Donny, London, Darlington and Newcastle. Rarely had an issue, and then out with LNER's control (storms and a suicide). The hourly train from Edinburgh to London will be 4 hours 10 minutes from Dec 25. Quicker than flying.
Just to prove it, I'm off to London this week and back down again for the Spurs game next week.
The biggest problem with the trains is the unions and strikers. The current boss of the RMT is pro Putin and was on Russian media saying that train strikes were being used to bring down capitalism.

Apologies for bringing politics into this, but blame should be apportioned to the people who are causing the issues.

That's right, I was thinking that it was a football special for the Arsenal match, but I remember getting on one of those back from London and it only stopping at Donny!
-
Had a meeting in Edinburgh about a year ago so thought I’d try the train. Absolute joke it never turned up asked LNER staff on the platform they were as confused as me, 90 minutes later they managed to find a replacement train but it terminated at Newcastle.
-
I got a train once was supposed to end up in Newcastle but they announced when we got on the train that due to unforeseen circumstances we were going to Manchester instead. Took 3 hours and then had to get a train from Manchester to Newcastle which left at 6am so had to sleep on the platform. Absolute joke trains in this country heard similar stories by many people.
-
I've used LNER/ECML/Virgin loads to go from Doncaster to Edinburgh and back on trips to Glasgow, only time I ever had an issue was when copper thieves were at it.

Overall reliability of any train travel aside, as someone who travels by train a lot for work. My colleagues who live anywhere but Donny are very envious of how connected Donny is.
Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham and London all with 1 hour 45.
But for the final train having no available tickets, get one for the train before and get on the last one.
Blame connection issues if anyone check tickets.

that won’t wash if you have a advance ticket, however if you buy a super off peak single which includes the last train you can get it for between £60-£70 which I know isn’t cheap and you will probably have to sit in the aisles lol but it does get you on the train

Yes, as long as we're selling match tickets, they'll be there taking bookings, until they tell us any different.

I might be wrong, Rob, but I believe it's around 50 people for each coach. That would mean about 1000.

Bloody hell are we travelling down on double deckers? I didn't realise they had toilets.
