Title: Bobby Faulkner
Post by: selby on September 10, 2025, 10:22:36 am
Being really underwhelmed by England players just going through the motions,  I went to watch Mansfield play Harrogate last night, a game Bobby started again and Harrogate took the lead with an early penalty and as expected spent the rest of the game trying to hit Mansfield on the break and manfully defending their lead.
The Harrogate keeper with some really good saves and defenders willing to go the extra mile to keep Mansfield at bay it turned out to be a game Bobby revelled in.
Heading, clearing his lines; and marking his man tightly is his forte which he did well all night clearing first time the many crosses low and high balls put into the Harrogate  box along with the rest of the Harrogate side who to a man worked hard off the ball.
He had a great game leading the defence , with the keeper a MOM display again and highly praised after the game and on the TV commentary according to others.

I’m happy to see Faulkner updates but don’t we already have a thread (or even two) for discussing players out on loan.?

Yes Gaz I know I am thinking I might be the jinx, happy days though all my teams and individuals doing well, what's Bobby's stats look like in these two games he started? if you have them at hand.
There were 59 away fans reported, five  of those were in our party from Askern and two were players at Buxton last season at the game supporting Bobby, and a ground hopper from Barnsley, so fifty one hardened Harrogate supporters, and a delegation of the Flint party were there to support the lad although they are Mansfield fans being from the town.
  Ldr no bait required.

Without Selby's 'obsession' we wouldn't hear anything about our loaned out players.  I enjoy reading his reports.

Theres literally a loan players thread also created by Selby here, not sure why we need several different topics on the same thing....

Well I always find Selby's views on our loan players interesting - especially when he has been to the games.

And if you don't want to read about Bobby Faulkner - why click on a thread entitled 'Bobby Faulkner'?

If you want to update about a player out on loan, why not put it in a thread about updates for players out on loan? (Especially when the op started both of those too!)

I watched a big part of the game, Bobby did nothing wrong and stood up well to a physical attack.
The game in general was exceptionally poor quality and hit and hope sprung to mind with every pass. There was the odd bit of nice stuff but very limited.
It is hard to imagine that we were actually as poor as that just 18-24 months ago.

JMT 23 these games never hit the heights with teams underestimating smaller clubs, the standard was about the same as our game seven days before against Everton u21s, probably a bit better with less juniors playing.
Harrogate were definitely a step up on Everton u21s on the night much more physical.
I don't think many watching us v Everton and  a not that good performance envisaged the ease with which we dispatched Bradford just four days later.
Two seasons ago we were worse by the way than Harrogate, with many of our current squad playing regularly, we were fourth from the bottom of the division until our  uplift in form from January, luckily brought about by  long term injuries and the defensive form of Olowu and Anderson with Wood occasionally, and a loan player that went on a goal scoring run.

That’s a good point about drawing all our players out on loan under one thread Ldr. I might do just that given I a young Rovers loanee playing in ‘my back yard’.

Gutted to have missed an excellent England World Cup Qualifier mind against Serbia (population 6.5 million).
