Title: Subs
Post by: mushRTID on September 20, 2025, 05:19:34 pm
Made us worse, not for the first time.

How Moly stayed on and Gibbo went off, I do not know.

It’s about time Ajayi made an impact for me.

Not yet sure on Olusanya, looks quite clumsy.

Crew didn’t take his opportunity, played far too safe.

Really frustrated, I thought that was poor. Not a great deal of urgency when behind either.

Looked like heads went down which Grant has mentioned before.

Poor all round from Grant, putting a keeper in who’s having a shocker and letting him have another shocker. Leaving Crew on when he was a passenger, leaving Moly on when he was having a shocker, bringing Sharp off when he was giving them hell up top, and when we got to 87 minutes and we were desperate for a goal - swap a defensive midfielder for a defensive midfielder.

The persistence with 4-3-3 isn’t helpful, Sharp needed support, and we needed a different way to deal with their strength at the back. Needed a proper number 10 to support Billy.

A poor couple of games all round.

Taking Gibson off rather than Moly was a bad one.

Thought Olusanya showed bits of what he can offer but Ajayi seems to be getting worse with every cameo.

My concern is that we now have 2 tough games coming up, can easily be 4 defeats in a row this time next week. Definitely will be 3 in midweek but im hopeful we can snatch a point at worst at Luton.

Ajayi needs some game time, he doesn't quite look ready. We looked a bit small though for me after the subs against a physical team. Probably needed Hanlan on the bench

Hard for Ajayi to show what he can do when he gets 10 mins here and there.

Molyneux should have been hooked sooner another bad game.

Sharp Broadbent and Bailey were decent

Olusanya not lifted a leg yet. Likely due to the fact he’s not had much game time for a while, possibly due to the fact he’s not very good.

McCann needs to take a longer look at his bench and be more honest as to why he leaves so many flair players sat down for 70mins and then expect them to lift games where most our players have already been run into the ground before hand ..

In the last 18 months McCann has been great and the team have been great but we’ve always lacked that bit of class in midfield. Against teams like Wimbledon that shows more.

My goodness, can't you tell we lost a game today!

I thought Middleton put some dangerous crosses in when he came on. Looks more likely than Molyneux so far this season.

We really should have scored, or at least made the keeper work, from an excellent Gotts free kick from the right.

Score from those and we'd be hailing the impact of the subs.

Yeah I thought Crew would give that but he was really poor today, just played safe every time.

If that’s the case you have to ‘throw Hanlon’ in there who didn’t even make the bench.

I’ve said it before in another ‘topic’, let’s hope Billy stays fit because the alternative front man is….?

I said in another post that Crew wants to occupy the space Broadbent finds himself in. Feels like it’s one or the other.

The statistics for our league games don't lie. We are averaging just over 3 shots on target per game and only 7 teams have scored less goals than us.

I thought Olusanya gave glimpses of what we will get from him. I thought the rest were poor when they came on. I did think prior to kick off that Olunsanya should have started in front of Sharp purely because of the conditions and I thought with his pace and physicality he would force a mistake. The first half completely past Sharp by I thought. 2nd half it took something to p!ss him off for him to get going and we can’t be waiting for that. I feel Middleton needs a rocket up his ar$e. If he can’t keep Gibbo out the team then why have we signed him? Anyway…. Yesterday was hard to take. Great goal and great atmosphere when Bails scored and we literally threw it all away. Feel Luton will allow us some gaps to expose them and if we apply ourselves correctly we could get some joy out of them. Also could quite easily be 3 losses on the bounce.

Olusanya looks like he is going to be good. Fitness is key for him, as GM mentioned, he hasn't played for quite sometime.

Yesterday we seemed to lack with the 10 role. Olusanya we be good there.
