A game with two teams who will be desperate to get a good result and will be looking to try and shake off their last few games results Burton the bottom of the form table for the last six games managing only to draw two games out of their last six games. in the league.
We are living off the form we showed up to the Bradford game and have won three but lost the last three league games dropping into the bottom half of the divisions form league so very much will want and need to get back on track.
With an early 12-30 kick off and few away fans expected the big attendances of the last few home games and live on TV we could well see a low attendance for the season. I hope not.
Saturday while we were competitive for much of the game at Luton but fluffed chances, Burton were on the end of a heavy defeat at home 0-4 to a resurgent Plymouth which left them rock bottom of the league on just five points from eight games, and a goal difference of minus nine.
On the face of it a good game for us to get back on track, and with no mid week game time to work on things and clear any small knocks up.
We try to play an energetic game, and when we are at it are a half decent team, and we need a bigger squad because of the pressure of the pace of the game we try to play at, but when we pick up a couple of injuries and some lose form, especially our better players like Molly they take some replacing and the collective suffers.
So we have had a good start if we stay where we are now to the end of the season I will be happy and a little surprised to be honest, but I don't want us to lose ambition, which I am confident will not happen.
Burton have only played three away games, drawing one and losing two the draw coming at strong Huddersfield which was a good performance, and travel away to strong Cardiff this Tuesday and will want to repeat the Huddersfield result and forget the Plymouth game and could be a little advantage to us next weekend.
Our second half performance at Luton was a big improvement on the first half showing, and hopefully the injury to O'Riordon is not too serious , if he misses the game Grehan at least shows promise he can step up.
A lot on the game, one that can restore confidence or plummet it to a very low ebb depending on the result, a win very much needed, and it will not be easy.
What team would you start with?
Can we get back to winning ways?
Does the kick off time suit you going to the actual game?
Lot's to discuss, lots of interest concerning how games are moved and effect supporters actually attending games, does it effect you going to this game? Also very easy to watch on TV.
Please have your say.

It’s must win. It’s as simple as that. Not the game as a singular but after 3 straight league defeats, following it up with a loss at bottom of the table would be a real mood killer!
-
We will see a win on Saturday, I can get to this one, it SHOULD be an easy win, the manner of that win will give GM some pointers as to what and who to trust.
-
It would helpul to pass to team mates when clearing .
-
Yeah I think that’s what Grant meant about being brave on the ball, looking to play rather than hoof it. It sounded as though Close and Gibson are likely to start.
-
Hard to summarise this in any way other than they are very poor. One league win all season and 5 points from a possible 24 points. They have scored 1 goal in their last 5 league games. This is a side on a terrible run of form.

Why have we suddenly taken defeat out of games we should have won ?

Burton bang out of form, away at Cardiff tomorrow and an early KO on Saturday. That's a big advantage to us...

Glad you said that I had it in my head it was a 3pm kick off
-
I fear it will almost certainly be the lowest attendance for a league game at home this season.
-
Cannot see this being a classic.
We need an early goal or i fear they will defend for their lives and we will struggle to break them down.
-
Remember a few years ago when they won promotion at our ground and they invaded the pitch at the end of the match, including the fella in the wheelchair
-
We need an early goal. If they just park the bus we’ll be expose by our lack of fire power. Not a fans for the lad from American doubt they’ll be much space in behind.
-
If we are on it as a team we have every chance of doing well. The games and periods of games we have done well in has not been down to individuals but the collective,
We are not a team of great individual talent, we have few players who can take a game on personally, but are team players, work hard, and cover a lot of ground, not bad traits to have along with desire.
If we stick to doing what we do well, and pick up a little luck in games there is no reason not to think we will get ourselves back on track in this game.
-
Big 3-0 win coming.
11/1.
-
Rain and heavy winds forecast for this 1.
-
A difficult away fixture against Orient to follow.
Has to be 3 points, no excuses against a side propping up the division.
-
There are no such thing as easy games. We're in League One and I don't remember many 'easy' games as we approached them in League Two.
Yes, it's a home game and one we should be using to get back to basics plus, any good performance is usually based on hard work and forcing our opponents into mistakes. Get the ball moving without hesitation and with purpose. Remind Moly and Gibson etc there are other parts of the goal to aim for other than the top corners. Work the keeper!!

I think that game actually suits us more than this one.
Orient struggling but like to try play attacking, whereas I can just see Burton going for a 0-0.
-
Yes, they will definitely be going for 0-0, they will use every spoiling tactic to stop us from scoring.
-
I can't see there being more than around 6500 for this one.

Burton 0-0 at HT against Cardiff. Brewers on 22% possession currently.
-

I’d like to see Close start in this, a bit of a calming influence.
-
Burton 1-0 up!
-
1-0 up away at Cardiff with 5mins to go and look a good big strong physical team , the kind of team we struggle against. :(
-
They've done exactly what I would expect any side who has had 23% possession and had two shots on target all game, would do to us. Namely grab a later winner.
-
If we want to win this game we need to score 1st and early say first 15 mins because Burton will frustrate us
-
Board went up for 8 mins, game finished after 11 mins added time!
-
Webster in midfield with the long curly hair looks a good player.
Their goal came from a big long throw.
Defenders powerful units.
Beesley up top an Ironside type striker.
Might feel like a League Two game.
They didn’t fill their bench and have a small squad so may be tired.
-

2 Burton players clashed heads in injury time , so there was a a stoppage.
-
Bookings for a total of four Burton players.
-
It was a very “Wimbledon” type performance tonight by Burton.
-
I didn't see the game, but with 23% possession, Burton must have defended for their lives most of the game.
It might have taken a lot out of them.
-
A great win for Burton tonight proving no side in this division can be taken lightly.
We will have to get back our form and play well against them at the weekend.
-
Think it is going to be a very scrappy game on Saturday.
Personally I could see McGrath and Grehan starting (if CO'R isn't fit after coming off at Luton)
I would put Mols in the CAM position behind striker and have Gibson and Middleton either side, with Bailey and Broadbent in midfield.
Could also see Olusanya starting on Saturday.
Hopefully they try playing out abit more against us and gives us a chance to get in behind.
-
If it wasn’t already nailed on before the Cardiff City game, Burton are going to be more than happy letting us have all the possession and sitting very deep. These are typically the games where we have come up short in recent years. Hope we have some kind of plan for Saturday because with that and the horrific weather forecast, this isn’t going to be a great watch!
-
It's crying out for 4 4 2 formation.
We need to score and to do that we need bodies in the box, winning headers.
A game made for Ironside and Sharp working together. Obviously not going to happen.
Due to a lack of any other decent option I'd play Captain Fantastic up with Billy.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
-
I'd play Pearson if O'Riordon is not fit and Bailey in central defence and expect the midfielders to get forward either side in support of Billy more.
I would be trying to renew the solid defence we had at the end of last season with Bailey and Anderson there.

Bailey is our biggest goal threat at the moment!

Our only goal threat!
-
I'd be working on getting shots on target. That's where we've been lacking, and if the conditions are going to be atrocious then any deflection could take it in.
-
If the weather is going to be wind and rain then I will be telling Middleton, Mols and Gibson if they get a chance have a shot at goal.
Worse could be bouncing out for a striker to pick up the scraps.
-
Looking at results and goals against since and before he played central defender he is our best there as well.
-

Different level though.
One of our biggest issue is when defenders get the ball Broadbent & Bailey dropping too deep so the Gotts was isolated in the midfield.

It was certainly two players holding at Luton. We play better with two box to box No8's. Close doesnt get in to the side if we set up that way though, or he would have to replace Broadbent (which at home wouldnt be the end of the world by the way). Grant wont do that. He may play Broadbent and Close holding with Bailey in front but that feels all wrong to me.
-
I’d actually push Bailey up front with Sharp, with Close and Broadbent holding the midfield.
Use Bailey as an aerial threat for crosses in to the box.
-
The weather looks god awful, with heavy winds forecast. With that, sky and the early kickoff I can see this not being very well attended. Burton won’t bring more than 250 at best. Sub 7K wouldn’t surprise me

As I said earlier, it will probably be the lowest home attendance for a league game this season.

Don’t forget everyone, 12.30 kick off for this game.
-
Ticket sales look horrific for today!

Not surprising really. Not really one that'd wet my appetite if I was picking and choosing games to go to.
-
Well I'm probably out with the lurgy, gutted but I need to get right for work on Monday, & I wouldn't want to pass it on to the guys around me. That's three of us missing, sorry guys.
-
Don't forget losing four in a row Inc spurs any fair weather fans will be saying not going until they win etc, the old didn't see me when I was bad
Less than 8000 there today I guess, we just need a win doesn't have to be pretty or good just a win
-
We're in Blackpool with the motorhome atm and it's horrendous weather here. We've been rocking really badly from side to side all night, pretty scary I must say, so me and my mrs haven't had much sleep. Our pitch is open to the elements so we're getting the full force of the really high gale force winds and lashing rain. I hope it's nothing like this back home in Donny as I've been looking forward to watching the game on IPTV.
-
Donny is fine in comparison to most of the country
-
Yep, not that bad this morning at all.
-
Thanks guys! COYR!!
-
Yep, not that bad this morning at all.
That's a surprise as the wind has just uprooted an ash tree in next-door garden here in Thorne and it's now driving the rain sideways!
-
Its wet and windy around the outside of the stadium.
Gonna be a tough watch today i feel.
-
There’s a proper blow on in Donny and it’s not very warm either. Might be the first outing this year for the winter jacket.
-
Lawlor starting again and no Sterry today.
-
Surprised he’s not playing Broadbent although his form has dropped off of late. Let’s see what Close can do dictating things in there.
-
Sbarra playing is an interesting one. Maybe hoping playing his old team gets him fired up
-
A area playing is an interesting one. Maybe hoping playing his old team gets him fired up
I had to look at the line up to work this one out lol.

iPhone auto correct having none of it!!!
-
We just aren't good enough attacking. Hanlan Ajayi and Olusanya aren't going to win games. Our set pieces have been weak barring the goal and we don't seem to have much of a game plan
-
The second half was poor and the quadruple change had no positive impact. Ajayi is miles off it, especially if we're going to play him centrally. Again, Olusanya looks another baffling signing.
-
Errgh...that second half!! Plus 3 squandered chances
-
Total Shambles 2nd half :crying:
-
Throwing Hanlan Ajayi and Olusanya on at the same time screamed of McCann having run out of ideas and just hoping for the best.
Moly (x2) and Sharp missed sitters, could have easily been 3 nil at half time and we’ve ended up with only a point.
-
How Grehan gets motm is beyond me. Worst player in that back four by a mile.
-

I agree that was an odd call. Probably got it for the goal-line clearance alone!
-
You've got to feel for GM, what more can he do, when your players don't take chances like we had you are never going to close out a game and win.
The subs did nothing for us today, its really worrying how he's hoping to get anything out of some of those players, they're just not good enough.
-
They were the worst team I’ve seen here in a long time. We did more than enough to win the game. We were brilliant first half.

Sterry out for two months.

Agreed Gaz but Burton were the only side that looked like winning in the second half! We were shocking.

We were poor after the subs but we looked like winning when Sharp was cocking his leg back to shoot 5 yards out.
-
Watching on the box I thought we were lucky not to have lost that game by 4 or more goals.

Recall some of our own young strikers from their loans; they must be better than Olusanya and Ajayi.

Sitting in the ground I thought the same tbh!
-
With the chances missed at both ends, 5-5 would have been a fair reflection of the game.
