….. a simple question, when does it take place
-
Tomorrow night.

Oh for the days of huddling around a radio at School dinner time listening to the draw with Ted Croker

TNT sports 1845 tomorrow.

Great memories listening in the works canteen and the excitement when it came out. A great day out and I said when Smith went down after trying to crouch Pancho, “ It looks like the Anfield Iron has got metal fatigue”. We were in the game for so long dreaming of a replay. We did ourselves proud on and off the pitch that day. I also remember thinking how poor their pitch looked compared to Belle Vue.
-
Or Emlyn Hughes collapsing after heading a shot, from a free kick?, by Alick off the line
Pancho was like a man possessed that day yet I always thought he was quite nesh for a centre forward back in those days
-
Quite a few decent local second round ties are off the agenda - Bradford, York, Notts County, Huddersfield, Lincoln, Harrogate and Rotherham all lost yesterday. Dingles are still in though.
-
Peterborough at home please.
-
A reasonable bag of under 90mins travel options for me - Swindon, WSM, Newport, Cheltenham, Bristol Rovers, Eastleigh away please!
-
A home tie please against lower league opposition, but if we are drawn away, then I want Shrewsbury...a ground I've not been to yet.
-
We just need a winnable game so we can get into round 3 and more money into the bank for grant to spend in January if we can get a big draw in round 3 then hopefully Terry can add that to the budget as well
-
Ww wouldn't be surprised to see another reunion with Paddy Madden so Accrington next maybe.
-
If you haven't got TNT sports, you can watch the draw on their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kijMCWZuq6Q

So that’s approx 69k if we go out next round, 150k+ if we lose in the third.. not bad - I didn’t realise losing sides got money in the round they get knocked out..
-
The customary away trip to Oldham is very much on looking at the ball numbers...
-
39 Port Vale
40 Walsall
-
When did we last draw Oldham away.? It did seem a routine occurrence but wasn’t it early 2010s.?
I’m sure I went to one of them, a 2-2 draw if memory serves..
-

I’ve have to ask why because of the ball numbers mate?
-
2007, 2012, 2014, 2016 all away. 2019 at home vs Oldham.
The 2-2 I went to was 2007..

Just meant they are still in the hat, always fills me with dread after all the time I've spent freezing in that away end.

Worth noting players may get a cup bonus paid out of these funds.

Buxton would be interesting, McGrath snr v McGrath jnr
-
Gateshead at Home
-
A home tie against the lowest ranked side.
Lets have the best possible chance of progression and more money in the pot and confidence.
-
We have drawn Chesterfield away last but one tie
-
Wow. A team that pumped us twice last season.
-
Quelle surprise AWAY
Shite again
-
And yet another away draw!
-
PLEASE
Can someone work out the number of away cup draws we get - it really is ridiculous
-
This is ridiculous!
-
When it got down to 4 I’d have taken this over a trip to Bristol or Port Vale!
-
Unbelievable Jeff but should draw a good crowd. One of the hardest ties we could have drawn.
-
A good chance of being a TV game I reckon
-

Doubt it, a lot more appealing ties in there.
-
PLEASE

4 H 14 A last 18 in FA CUP
4 H 13 A last 17 in League Cup
Vertu/etc cup is skewed - with current format we are guaranteed 2H and 1A in the group phase, and group performance determine H or A draw
-
No chance this should be selected for tv

That is insane
-
We owe these one after the sodomising we received last season. Let’s go and dish out a pasting.
-
Was it me or was that draw a bit chaotic.
Lescott pulling the balls out so fast like he couldnt wait to get out of there.
The whole buildup is ott
-

It’s really not. They are 7th in league 2. Far harder away games we could have drawn from our league
-
At least it's not far to travel and some cracking pubs ,it's got Sunday afternoon kickoff written on it all day long

The draw stat is simply mental, no doubting that.
-
Thank you Brian
Almost as bad as our Boxing Day travels!!!

Very minor mistake - went at it too quickly while child minding, it is remarkably 4H 13A in both competitions (one of the 14 Away matches in FA Cup was a replay)

An unforgivable transgression. Please hand in the keys to your spreadsheets and leave via the back door.
-
A tricky, but winnable tie and as mentioned above, a chance for revenge over them after last season.
Chessie fans think that this game might be moved by the Police as Derby play Leicester at dinner time on the same day. If so, Friday could be the only option as we are at home to Stockport the following Tuesday.
-
Friday night could be good.
Game on tv perhaps and not far for most of us away fans to travel.

If my Pascal Triangle calcs are correct, I reckon the odds against that specific outcome (8 out of 35 at home) are 1463/1.
The odds on not having more than 8 out of 35 are 1064/1 against.
Really astonishing int it? I reckon we wouldn't expect one run as bad as this in a time equal to the whole period of recorded history, based on a 50/50 chance of any tie being at home.
-
Our record in home ties has been dreadful though. Without looking it up, I remember losing to Stevenage and Kings Lynn and of course Palace twice. Is that 4 losses out of 4?
-
I doubt our game would be on telly, whatever day it’s on.
-
Deal between both clubs should see a decent crowd and decent away following at say £15 a ticket. We also get behind their goal for cup matches due to the 15% rule.
It's a good tie, tough game for sure though
-
Unlikely to be a normal kick off time, probably an early one.
-
Pompey got about 1,800 tickets for their North Stand two years back. Unlikely this will make General Sale.
-
Talking to my Chesterfield supporting friend he says like us they are very slow in central defence, are too nice, flood midfield and rates Dibley-Dias and Duffy as the main dangers their best players
with Bonis an Irish footballer who played in Holland.

Lee Bonis is a Northern Ireland full international who they signed from Den Haag

Stevenage was a long time ago wasn't it? We beat Oldham at home before we got Palace didn't we?
-

normally would agree but there are sum shit draws there and a lot of non league sides are either home against other non league teams or away, think only couple other games stand out

Yes whiteman penalty towards the end.

Yes, BFYP. Stevenage was the 3rd round in 2014, with Dickov as manager. Oldham was the 4th round in 2019, with GM in his first spell with us.
-
When does the second round draw take place?
My Crystal Ball predicts Chesterfield away.
