There is only one team with fewer points than us in the League One disciplinary stats table.
Are we too nice?

Data doesn’t lie - we are too nice.
I hate this side of the game as essentially cheating does prosper, and this goes against all I’ve learnt/been taught.
-
Yes, and slow to be a top team.
-
I don’t know if we are too nice, but we are definitely not physical enough or fast enough. Fair enough we have the odd quick player but no one with the kind of pace that worries the opposition.
-
We are definitely too nice, no way Kelly would have been allowed to do what he did for the second goal if we weren’t
-
Barnsley’s take one for the team attitude without a doubt, helped them to win the match on Saturday.

It feels like we always say this about our team only the occasional team (Rob Jones etc or Marquis & Wilkes) that has the nastiness about them. Be interesting to know if other clubs fans always feel the same about their team.
Yesterday it was crying out for someone to get into the number 48 and rough him up a bit, legally of course. Hate to see someone strutting about like that and it’s supposed to be a derby.

I said early on someone needed to put some studs on him

I said exactly that. I dislike the cheating in the game but there is no way Kelly ( if roles had been reversed ) would not have " taken one for the team" and prevented that goal
I still look back at the Maradona "wonder goal" v England and still think , why didn't someone just leg him up ?
For sure he would not have scored that goal against the majority of League One teams
-
There was a mirror of their goal when Clifton drove through the middle and had options ahead, but Kelly grabbed him and pulled him down so he couldn't run on. We rarely seem to do that, so teams can break on us at will. Bottom end of league one will be a scrap so we definitely need to get a bit nasty if we want to get out of this rut.

And given the erratic consistency shown by Refs professional fouls are often not even punished with a Yellow Card.
Or if a player is already on a Yellow they often dont get a second one which always seems ridiculous. The Refs usually find an excuse or mitigation to avoid sending them off
-
Tend to agree however, taking yellow cards is a sign of failure in being able to defend properly so I would rather the team be better at preventing the need to take someone down in the first place.
-
It's noticeable in this division compared to last season's that that extra bit of quality in the opposition is there. Mistakes get punished far more often than they did in League Two.

It’s become part of the game, why should we be any different to our disadvantage, until things change take them down like others do
