It ended 4-1, which considering the way the game went with us taking the lead, and giving a good account of ourselves in the second half was a good performance against last years winners of the competition, and a much bigger fish at this level with massive investment.
With Middleton and Pinder getting a start who are still schoolboys  and not scholars until next season the coaches past and present can be pleased with the performance.  Well done lads you have done well.

Two young lads from local sides picked up from grass roots and have been with the club a few years in the younger age group teams.
I know more about Charlie Pinder a player from Scawthorpe Scorpions when u13s and from the Skellow/ Carcroft area a big lad  and a great personality which all the lads have.
I don't really know Middleton's back ground but he is impressive as a hard working clever footballing player
Hodgett is the player who came on in the Bradford City EFL cup game and is also very well thought of as a hard working clever mid fielder who impresses, again originally from grass roots youth football.

The grandad of Ethan Hodgett is a long time friend and playing colleague of mine Brian and I would be surprised if you hadn’t come across him in your playing days. He has been telling me some considerable time how much Ethan is liked by the club.

All refreshing news selby & hound.

It is nice to hear about these boys as they progress through the ranks. Your input particularly selby is always in depth & interesting to read.

Without the input from posters like you & hound the vast majority of the forum would have little idea about the upcoming talent we have.

A sincere thank you for that.

Ethan Hodgett certainly has something about him. Brilliant delivery of a corner. Every time.

Villa had some quality and many of them will have a good career.

Enjoyed the game.

Ethan has a lot to offer and has been noticed by other clubs with consistent performances playing up in age group sides.
We fielded a few u16s last evening in the squad which bodes well for the future new coaches and John Buckley, Steve Welsh, and Paul Green can be proud of their work with all the lads quite an occasion for them last night and bodes well for the future.
And the next crop of u14s/15s and the younger teams have some handy lads coming through.
A special word should be given to Kevan Wilds and some coaches now not at the club who worked tirelessly in the last few seasons to bring lads in  for the club to trial from a wide area of Yorkshire, giving time and in all weathers on local sports fields at times in bad weather, a lot of the lads on show last night are their legacy and one to be proud of.

Thanks for the kind words boys but my input is tiny when compared to that of selby.
He really is well informed.

Again selby (at the risk of sounding like I’m coming over as a groupy!!) these scouts need a ‘shout out & a bloody well done’ for all their endeavours.

We get another Snodin ‘over the line’ & it’s Champagne for all from me!!

Late to the party but ended up at this game, first time watching the U18's. Just to echo what others said, Hodgett really didn't look out of place and those corners would trouble any defence. Other players showed up well at times especially Pinder and the lad who scored the goal. Villa had our number physically and tactically but a very strong second half showing.
