Hasn’t made the squad for the last four games. Is he injured, or has McCann just given up?
-
Injured
-
Been a tough few months for the lad.
-
Injured
Is that 'injured' or actually injured do we think?
-
Nailed on that he departs in January.
-
Nailed on that he departs in January.
That helps with available funds.
-
There’s more than him that needs to depart in January.
-
Injured has never been more 'code' for the truth. Awful signing, we wont see him again.
-
He was only here till January to start with
-
The most baffling statement of the season;
Manager Grant McCann said: “We’re really delighted to get this one over the line. It’s not been easy because there has been so much interest in him.
-
Signing a 28 year old who’s barely ever played up top on his own to play that role was weird.
It’s like Grant and the recruitment team got tunnel vision over pace and forgot about the footballing bits.

“There has been so much interest in him” according to his agent.
He was linked with every club in L1 in “the paper” prior to signing. Stinks of an agent signing to me. Agent sells a dream and we fall for it.

He's not even that quick either. Rapido speed my arse.
-
That stumble then pass to the luton goalie after gibbo had run 40 yards, just about sums his time up here..
-
He's quick alright. Horrific when he finally retrieves the ball
-
TBF he has got quick feet - it's just unfortunate that they're on the wrong legs...

He looked very good in his YouTube videos...

He looked very good in his YouTube videos...
...and in training no doubt - a bit like Lewis Guy.

I was never a fan of Lewis, but it’s unfair to bracket him with Olusanya. .

Dead right, Adam, and I'd be happy if we didn't see Lee Glover again. He's the one responsible for identifying the likes of Olusanya and Ajayi.
-
If your suspicion on that is correct, SS then I would expect we will be seeing the back of him before too much longer. I don't think GM will put up with incompetence in player recruitment negatively affecting the club and his own reputation.
-
Hasn’t Grant got the final say?
-
Hasn’t Grant got the final say?
Yes, Alan, but if he's been sold a puppy then there's not much he'd know about it. The recruitment team will have done all the analysis, stats, and fact finding. That's what they're paid for.
GM has to put his trust in them. I don't think he'll be too pleased right now.
-
My understanding is Grant has the final say on pretty much everything on the football side. Certainly recruitment is one area where he decides what's what, and I'm pretty sure he rates his own opinion over what the underlying numbers might be telling him. So, whilst the analysts might be telling him one thing, he may not always go along with it.
-
Could be worse - compare Lasagne with Isak ???
Slot v McCann ?
FFS this game isn't a perfect science and never will be.
-
If you check out the recent L1 budgets publication, by Football League World, it may put another slant on things, re standard of players in our recruitment!

If that's the case, then it sounds as though the recruitment team are getting paid for very little responsibility, and GM's judgement in the summer was terrible.

So much for anal lists

I've got this niggling feeling that he stays longer than January, just down to how this loan was described compared to all the others. Could be wrong, although I do think it takes a while for players to understand their roles in a McCann squad.
-
Been a tough few months for the lad.
How ? He was meant to offer a variation on what we had in the squad and all I’ve seen is a player who IS quick but that’s it ..It’s unclear as to how many games he’d played prior to this loan or even the was it an equivalent standard . It beggars the question why have we gone over seas to find Olusanya when the are hundreds of players that can be seen daily I've got this niggling feeling that he stays longer than January, just down to how this loan was described compared to all the others. and available for loan here .

Bit of a bum joke that, PDX.
-
Same happened with Hanlan. Disappeared for several games. When he did he was being slated, written off infact and was really struggling.
Took him out of the firing line (though perhaps enforced by injury) and he has come back renewed. Maybe the same thing could happen with Toyosi.

The US Major League season begins late February so he’ll be going back in January to prepare for that with his parent club.

It's not. Guy was awful too.
-
He wasn't a world beater but he scored that goal at Derby. Don't think many Rovers fans will forget that in a hurry. Had a few other moments as well in his time here - that assist to Heffs against Villa was superb.
I'd certainly put Guy then in the squad over Olusanya now, put it that way!

I can’t see any other explanation for it other than this. I said at the time how on earth are we scouting players from the MLS.

He scored against Rangers last season so Grant probably noticed him then.
-
Olusanya clearly has some ability, I'm just not sure it's league one level. McCann still seems to like him, but you never know how much of what Grant says in the media is true.
-
GM knows which side of the bread is buttered, we are desperate for a goal scorer and Lasagne is going to have to make room. If we fail to find someone then major questions need asking!
