I’d say a pretty boring stereotype at best. It’s not even original. For such a decent away fan base our song selection is shit. Nothing original at all.

One of my pet hates is when oppo fans sing a generic song and some of our fans sing the same generic song back to them just with the words changed.
It's just weird.
I'd rather we sang about Bovreel than do that.

I think he was talking about the criticism of copying songs rather than the Hanlan one

It was a response to peoples criticism of fans copying songs.
If they dont like them then come up with something original themselves than criticiee those who are trying to at least make an effort in creating some noise.
I dont even know what this hanlan song is is so if anyone can enlightin us on the lyrics then please do so

Better response would be confronting those singing it, not too sure what just commenting on a forum where the average poster appears to 30s + will achieve

When there's quite a large section singing it, where would you start confronting people? I don't disagree about challenging inappropriate behaviour, but it's hardly practical to work your way along the rows tutting during a game

Similar trope about Madger Gomes. Cringe and mildly amusing about 20 years ago, done to death since and rightly seems to have died a death - apart from here it seems.

I can say for certain that I never heard a song like that about Olowu or Gomez and I haven’t heard any songs yet about Hanlan.

I haven’t been to an away game since Mansfield and I can say that I haven’t heard it from my south stand spot which is just off centre.
I had a hearing test a couple of weeks ago too and passed with flying colours.

It was definitely sung at Stevenage, I wasn't at Chesterfield but I'm guessing it was there too. Not heard it at home games yet, Hound
