Off back to Blackburn next month, according to Alan Nixon. He's usually on the money.
-
Would we need another loanee at the back?
Pearson
Grehan
McGrath
Potentially Faulkner if he gets fit and we recall him
Bailey in worst case scenario
-
That’s a blow, he’s been excellent.

I think if he wanted four centre halves in the summer, he will want four now. Gives Grehan a chance to step up, sure they will have a replacement in mind.

Yes, if we’ve not been keeping enough clean sheets with him then we’re going to try and improve the defence surely.
-
That would be a big loss, he's been our best defender.
-
Selby will be having a wet dream at the thought
-
Not really buddy I rate the lad, but expected it.
Bobby by the way has played every game selected on the left, apart from the game he got injured in when he was picked at right back, but that lasted ten minutes as the central defender got injured and he moved to the left central position.
Harrogate were looking to use his strength and pace down the right against Newcastle u21s who were strong down their left side. that was the theory anyway. his stats in the games he did play were very very good.
-
Disappointing if confirmed but he's clearly a good player who could step up another level. Blackburn either need him or, want to monetise him with another move. Of course it would be disappointing if it's another League One club exercising their financial muscle.
-
Hope we can keep him, if not we’ll miss his height & ball carrying. He’s been the best of all our recruits this season.

Totally agree, he had a couple of ‘dodgy’ games but overall very good, and if this is true he will be difficult to replace.
Looks to me like he could cope in the championship, so Blackburn maybe want him back to be in their first team squad has back up to their current first choice.
A few injuries, 2 of their centre backs wouldn’t have been available for yesterday’s game, and we all know how injuries can occur in the second half of the season.
-
If it does happen and Bobby gets recalled, I hope he takes his chance

Long term injured isn’t he
-
Always the risk with loan players. Started well then shaky form but looked decent with McGrath the last few games.
McCann will have plans for all eventualities. If he goes it's an opportunity for someone else.
-
Towards the end of January Filo although it is progressing well at the moment and is happy with it.
Says the treatment at the Rovers is top notch and he is really being looked after by the physio's who are also very encouraging.

If this is true then a massive loss to us, he is by far our best centre half.
-
He is and has been the best centre half since he's been here. We need a replacement with his pace his size and footballing technique.
-
Get a bid in with the cup money
-
Come on Terry, see if we can get a permanent deal done for the lad ! Let Grant keep up with his development and then move him on for some big bucks.
-
Could he be going back to Blackburn because another club has made a bid for him?
A loss for us if he does go back, but as others say, other plans will be in place so we can move on.
-
Nailed on to go Barnsley then.
-
Great with the ball, decent in the air, has a turn of speed, by far our best player this season so far in my opinion.
If true a big loss to our team.
-
Nixon suggests he is joining the Blackburn Rovers squad, rather than going out on loan again.
-
It’s been raised before but who is Alan Nixon
-
Very plugged in football journalist with excellent sources.

Yes, just read the article in the72.com
Saying they're short at centre half....
"Conor O’Riordan is on loan from Blackburn Rovers at Doncaster Rovers in League One, but he is now set to return in January. According to Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Rovers have been impressed by O’Riordan out on loan.
The centre-back is being eyed to help bolster Rovers’ current crop of defenders. They feel he has picked up some valuable experience whilst with Doncaster Rovers."
-
If they were recalling him to be part of their squad why would they let him be cup tied by playing against Chesterfield?

They’re quite thick in Blackburn. Ask anyone from Burnley.
-

Possibly because he was already cup - tied by playing against Crewe possibly before they've made the decision (if so) to recall
-
Time to bring in one of our own?
-
No.

Nixon is someone who throws names around and hopes one of his transfer or players returning to club mentions will be correct. Of course if it turns out not to be no-one will comment.
I'd prefer the word of a reporter from the area writing on Blackburn Rovers, surely he'd know better if O'Riordan was going back?

His other comment on Twitter "he'd be better off staying with Doncaster"

Of course, it's all speculation and the nature of all loans means there's a mid season review based on common sense reasons. Of course clubs will be communicating about each players progress however, I doubt there's anything concrete been decided at this stage as clubs manoeuvre to get ready for the window with many moves being dependent on others. One thing we know about McCann is he won't be strung along and be kept waiting. He wants players who are 100% committed so we're likely to see some early decisions on players in or out, permanent or loan.
We can only hope any speculation and uncertainty doesn't adversely affect players performances. We saw that with Mo Faal which didn't go down well with McCann and then Adelakun who played for time.
-
There’s been an update to all this and it seems there has been no discussions, as yet, between the clubs, due to the possible disruption that it may cause (for the player).
It seems there has been other Rovers are being quite sensible with this and they’re hoping their injuries clear up. There’s also the possibility that they maybe looking at reinforcements in January as well.
-
"Blackburn Rovers have not taken a definitive stance yet on Connor O’Riordan’s situation.
The young defender has performed well during his spell at Doncaster, but contrary to recent claims, there’s been no move from Blackburn to recall him in January." Let's see.
-
O'Riordon has done well and only had a couple of poorish games, not surprising really with what has been around him, nobody has pulled many trees up for the last 10 more or so league games, and struggle with pace at this level as a unit.
Not a lot we can do until January really, unless playing Bailey in there with O'Riordon or Pearson which is what I would do, and realistically we are nowhere near the attractive club we were three months ago to players changing clubs.
