Lots of talk about midfield and a striker in January and that’s valid but it’s basic defending that killing us.

Three shots on goal. We’ve dominated, two errors gave them two of them. Game is still there for us.

How they haven’t had more bookings I don’t know. Couple of cynical challenges.

I’m only going on what I’m hearing from the game, we are all over them.

This is crazy

We are all over them, just really sloppy and it’s cost us so far.

Trying to play long diagonal balls to the wingers, and it’s coming straight back. The midfield is non existent.

Pearson needs come on for grehan
Title: Re: TLOD v Plymouth

Centre backs are pumping long balls towards Hanlan and the wingers. They are walking through the midfield.
Can’t blame McCann for basic errors that they have produced.

Close needs come on for broadbent

The midfield needs changing they can’t get a foothold in the game now. We can win this if the manager is brave enough to change things early enough. Such a great start to the game as well before the errors. No quality balls to Molyneux.

Not sure how many posts I’ve made on this, DO NOT GIVE BROADBENT THE BALL WHEN HES FACING OUR KEEPER. He and Bailey have had shockers
Title: Re: TLOD v Plymouth
Post by: monkeytennis on December 20, 2025, 03:52:14 pm
We may as well not have a midfield or defence because as far as Plymouth are concerned they don’t exist. Absolutely unacceptable performance. We rinsed them for the first ten minutes then McGrath fumbled a pass to broadbent which gifted them the equaliser. Since then our morale has collapsed completely. Like a different team. It’s so worrying.

In summation, headless chickens against a team that are as bad as we are.

They aren’t good at all but we’ve just lost our heads. It’s pathetic game management.

How many times do we concede within 5 min of scoring. And then at 2-1 just get your heads straight no stupid wide open pitch.

McCann does like leaving it wide open but needs to get Bailey or Clifton with Broadbent they are doing nothing been so high up and they are begging us to pass to Broadbent from the centre halves

Would bring Gotts, Close and Sharp on, 3-5-2. The passing has been really lax. Very limited in what we’ve been trying, pumping long balls. Get it down and play. They are not a good side, they have just taken the opportunities given to them. Need more quality to Molyneux and try and isolate him against the full back. Hanlan needs the ball to feet. Get Billy Sharp up there working with him. If he leaves it the same, we can’t win.

Grehan having a mare. Incredibly slow at getting back and rarely makes a decent challenge when he does. McGrath is just not a good passer of the ball when attempting to play out from the back. Invariably blasts it upfield to no mans land.

McGrath and have been a problem for a while there is only one way we are going unless somthing drastic happens in January.

Zero pressing from us when they play out from the back at their leisure .

What other manager would keep his job after a run like this. It’s his team, his players, his tactics. At what point does TB consider a change?

Into the relegation zone with the worst goal difference in the division.

Awful. That said, I expect big moves in January. I don’t think Grant should be worried about his job. He’s a very good manager and I have full confidence that he and Cliff can turn this around. Keep the faith, pop pickers.

Hmm. Helluva difficult time for our Chairman now....  You can argue either way on the future of our manager. I'd  absolutely hate to be in his shoes.

Pretty much we shoot it's saved, they shoot it goes in , we've looked beaten all 2nd half

Does McCann have the January transfer window to turn things around or should he go now to let a new manager bring in his own players?
Title: Re: TLOD v Plymouth
Post by: Peebles Rover on December 20, 2025, 04:55:58 pm
All started by gifting them a goal to let them into the game. Was one way traffic after that. Absolutely zero back bone. We looked woeful in every aspect of our game

That was as bad as bad can be, Schofieldesque in its performance. On a positive note, it can only (hopefully) get better.

Onwards and upwards
