Ok ... We wouldn't have altered the result but yet again the Ref I assume stuck to the rules as he wanted to join most of the crowd in going home easily but ...
Penalty hit the back of the net and they are supposed to add 30 seconds per goal but Plymouth used 1 minute 14 seconds before we kicked off again
The stop time after their 5th goal ran to 1 minute 23 seconds so the Ref called for 5 minutes added time and just those two goals added up to 2 minutes 37 seconds
Looking back on Rate the Ref this bloke has form for exactly this , is generally poor and only got praise when he sent off the Bradford bloke at HT for ( wait for it ) a second Yellow

The time they took celebrating every goal was excessive!

Clough at Mansfield wanting a replay as the donkey ref there played one less minute in first half, with 'a minimum of two' added on.

And if you score five goals away at a relegation rival you should be able to start mardi gras as far as I'm concerned!

I'm really surprised to learn he was the ref in that Blackpool game, and I'll tell you why. Can't remember whether it was first or second half but he finally booked one of their players, I think for dissent. The player kept going, and going until a player pushed him away. That was an easy second yellow and he obviously wasn't afraid to do it against Bradford.

If we were honest, if the ref had played an extra half an hour Rovers would still not have scored against Plymouth

To be fair our record when he has reffed us is really good. He has reffed us 21 times & we've W13 D3 L5.

Not really my point as I said on the OP but more a go at Referees and how they vary in interpretations of Rules such as added time
2 37 taken up in 2nd half because sad muppet that I am , when the open hit the net I watched the clock till play kicked off again as I did for 5th goal
How he could only add 5 minutes is beyond belief
And I agree with post re this Ref showing 2 yellows to Bradford player yet dishing one out to their player Saturday who then clearly dissected to him and at him right on front of his sight and he did nowt

Rugby have managed to sort it, a game clock that everyone can see so when the game stops the clock stops when times up and the ball goes dead, game over

If you put an exact game clock on the game players would waste even more time, leading by 1 goal the last 5 maybe 10 minutes teams would end up playing Chuckle Brothers football just to run the clock down.

Ive been trying to rationalise that myself D III
All the goal kick throw in Corner kick , substitutions , goal celebration fake injuries would be gone
But there would still be opportunities for sure with a fixed time clock running down
Goalkeepers would still do the silly catching a cross and diving on the floor routine , unless watched they would hold on as long as possible after back passes etc and "going to the Corner Flag" would like you hinted at be used even more. At least in that case the defenders could foul to stop the Clock but the resulting free kick would start it all over again
Im sure there are others and im trying to think of them , but surely they are far outweighed by the gains. ?

The ref for Blackpool has one of the highest number of free kick awarded per game and one of the lowest ball in play percentages out of the regular L1 refs… Wolfy’s not going to be happy after this one!

Cheers Gaz. Well I was laid up earlier this year and the luminaries including Drfchound Roversdude and Dutch Uncle didn't need my input
10 x 0 was a pretty damning indictment
In the blokes favour though I did read another account of a Crewe game v Walsall ( by Roversdude ) that during an in play "applause" for a fan , Corlett immediately blew to stop play when ball went out and joined in with it
Fair play to him for that
