If you go onto their forum and the topic of Doncaster, scroll to page 3, about 6 posts from the bottom one clever individual calls Doncaster “ the white trash of Yorkshiremen “ and then there’s a comment about the East Coast Mainline.
I’ve read a bit more on their forum, and they seem unhappy about everything, from playing us, losing, team selection, the players, management, but what makes it worse for them is that Pompey are at home to Arsenal in R3.
They come across as another of these clubs who think they should be the Premiership and playing in the Champions League, not lowering themselves having to travel to travel to South Yorkshire

This one’s personal for me.  Never forgiven Doncaster for knocking us out of the English Schools Trophy in 1985 - quarter finals, second replay.  They went on to win it, which should have been us.

f**king hammer the w**kers.

Some great info on there. Apparently we called the Luton game off just 20 minutes before KO.

FFS.

Sounds like their manager is on borrowed time. A few wins as caretaker that sealed a job he’s either not ready or not good enough for. If the game’s on tomorrow and we win I could see him going.

One thing we have a link to Southampton fans is Kevin Keegan.... possibly the greatest player we never had.

My Dad is from the Isle of Wight and a Southampton fan.  I remember going with him to see Leeds against Southampton back in 1982.  Keegan got a pair and in a 3:1 win... and Alan Armstrong scored another belter...

Edit:

Just found the game on You Tube................ KK's second was a cracker also...

As far as I know we also have Billy Sharp, Joseph Mills, Alan Blayney, Kerry Dixon and Paul Gilchrist in common.  Matt Mills? There may be others but can’t bring them to mind. Through work I once chatted to Rishi Sunak before he went into politics and we had this discussion about DRFC and Southampton and he was the one that pointed out you could include Ian Branfoot who managed them. Genuine football nerd.

Lawrie McMenemy, their greatest manager, learnt his trade in league football with us. He did well, then eventually sacked. The fate of all managers bar the select few.

Was speaking to a Saints' supporting mate last night and couldn't remember his name, just "he looks like a thumb, he looks like a thuuuuuuuuuuuuumb!"

Simon Gillett was another one.

I remember this being a big game for us in the championship in 2009. Remember there being protest against Rupert Lowe (the no longer reform MP).  Copps was great that day.

Remember it well. It was really kicking off there anyway but losing to ‘the likes of Doncaster’ was too much for the locals to bear. Got all sorts of dogs abuse that day after the final whistle. Very similar to Leeds fans after the play off final.

Odd bunch on their forum.

Loads of comments about wanting an away tie up north, and when they get one they moan.

Happens alot I've noticed, southern clubs looking forward to away games up north.
Funny thing is, you never see a northern clubs fans wanting ties down south.

Southampton, the arse end of nowhere, famous for nothing.
Such a beige and boring non entity of a club.

I suppose pretty much every game for them is up north.

The word "nonsense" can be overused, but it very aptly describes what you have written in those last two sentences. Do you not have any general knowledge of the UK or wider interest in English football?

Just had another nosey at Southampton’s and some absolute tool has criticised our pitch , saying it’s going to be “ parklife pitch” because we haven’t got under soil heating. As I said previously they certainly think they’re something, flying up for the match.

I’ve been to Southampton on a few occasions, but just to board a P&O cruise.
So the town is useful for departures.
