Hope everyone is safe and warm wherever you are.
Ground seems to have softened with the rain where I am
Not sure what it’s like at the stadium but fingers crossed the game is on tomorrow
-
We’re being spared the worst of the weather here in North Yorkshire.
Any updates from Donny?
-
No snow just rain temperature above zero. Raining on and off through today according to weather apps. Clear skys tonight and tomorrow so it could be icy temperatures about 3 degrees it says. So nothing for game to be called off unless it to hard now.
-
Not that it matters but here in Boston just wind and continuous rain from midnight till about 7pm
-
The risk is overnight, it's dropping below freezing tonight and only 2c tomorrow at the max.
-
It is till hard underfoot, but the top surface has cleared of frost, and another hard frost tonight. Make of that what you will, but I would expect at least an inspection tomorrow morning.
-
Surprised there isn’t a pitch inspection this afternoon bearing in mind how far Southampton is away
-
Another 8.30 one will do, Southampton is about 5 hours away.
-
I'd guess they'll fly up such is the modern way.
-
Believe they are staying at Mount Pleasant
-
I'd guess they'll fly up such is the modern way.
It better be on then otherwise we'll have to reimburse their flight costs.
-

Not the fans though!
At least one on the Saints forum says his train departs at 8.15am
-
It's what the third round of the cup was about, muddy or frozen pitches evening things up for the smaller teams, now even they complain about our pitch last home game that didn't play badly at all.
Anything but a manicured pitch is sub standard now even in a lot of non league clubs.
Now, I think I will pull the leather studs out of the soles of my boots with plyers and nail bars on the soles for more grip tomorrow, dad where's the last. What do you think Steve or Goole Rover.

Rovers statement
Based on current conditions, measures in place and the forecast for the next 36 hours, we are confident that Saturday's Emirates FA Cup tie against Southampton will go ahead.
A provisional pitch inspection at lunchtime today was cancelled after an initial examination of the playing surface showed a considerable thawing of the problematic areas.
We are confident the pitch will be safe for play based on the overnight forecast. No pitch inspection is planned ahead of the game and we will advise if the situation changes.

The pitch may be fine but there could be problems with the surrounding areas.

Not really, we haven’t had one snowflake

Great news looking forward to this
-
I'd guess they'll fly up such is the modern way.
Most bigger teams that played us from way down south flew up when DSA was open, theres no flights into HUY from Southampton so they possibly coached it up unless they flew into a LBA or EMA instead but they wouldnt make much sense. Next week though Hull are flying down to Southampton

Surely they private plane it.

Anyone know what it’s currently like underfoot around the stadium & along Stadium Way?
-
Bit of drizzle this eve then chilling to freezing, -2* at 9am but sun warming to 2* by midday then cooling again. Covers could make it okay, but only just. Impressed with the club's confidence!

Was at the gym tonight the ground around the stadium seamed fine , Unless it's a hard heavy frost it's very unlikely it will be called off
-
What's happened to this country, it wasn't that long ago that we would clear snow off the pitch markings and the game went on, a bit of a crusty pitch was just an occupational hazard at this time of year.
If it was a bit icy in the vercinity of the ground you just too it a bit steady, anyone a bit dodgy on their pins would just stay home
We really have become a nation of nancy's. i'm surprised that we can make it out of the door in a morning to work without fretting, where does all this crap end?
-
I remember playing Sunday league and the get called it off for ice and we told him that the game on the next pitch was on. He relented and we kicked off, about 20 mins in the ref realised the other game was off and we had pulled the wool over his eyes. Two pens for them later we were regretting getting the game on.
-
Let's hope those covers are good, pretty cold out there.
-
Hard frost this morning, not confident
-
My lawn looked pretty green at 5am this morning, albeit quite dark, but the sharp frost set in just in the last 3 hours so hope the covers have done the job and they're using those lamps.
Another update from the club would be helpful.
-
Hope it’s a bit warmer than here in deepest darkest Lincolnshire. Heavy frost, -4, and a spot of snow during the night. ‘Knockers’ dog poo would be rock solid and white if it were here!! (Different thread if you didn’t see it!)
-
Coldest morning of the week for sure.
That cold that my can of di-icer was frozen.
-
Surely an update would be needed this morning. We’ve all got eyes and can see the frost. Whilst the ground under foot is firm it’s probably not as firm as earlier in the week. But enough to put doubt in the mind. Could affect the attendance if no communication. I haven’t bought my ticket yet.
-
I hope they call it off, not arsed at all about sitting in this cold!
-
-2 and a hard frost at Cussy. I’d be surprised if it went ahead. Although the Cussy parkrun is on #hardcore
-
Ashford and Simpson were playing this morning so not looking good :turd:
-
‘Dodgy on my pins’ as danumdon so eloquently puts it so if it’s black ice on pavements I would want an early announcement from the club if it’s to be called off due to a frozen pitch before starting on 68 mile journey.
-
Ye this isn't going ahead rock solid
-
Coldest morning of the week for sure.
That cold that my can of di-icer was frozen.
Don’t at all miss the days of having to use de-icer! As for the game, I’ll be surprised if it’s on.
-
I'll be amazed if it's on.
-
Club must be confident as their supporters will be travelling now.
-
9:15 and no early morning update regarding inspections or concerns.
So cannot have any worries. Because if there was you would expect something to have been put out even just for the travelling fans
-
I’m confident it will be on. They’ve seen the forecast, they know what precautions they’ve taken, and the state as of yesterday. Obviously there are 1000 season ticket holders just in the South stand not bought yet. So looks like a poor crowd today
-
It's not on firesticks today for anyone expecting it to be not going
-
Just got back fresh my early morning dog walk and the ground around Hatfield is frozen hard.
Puddles down the lanes frozen solid.
If the pitch at the Eco is playable they will have done really well.
-
And has anybody had those lanes covered up or heat lamps on them?
I’m sure the pitch will be ok.
-
Coming up on the train, currently at East Croydon and just checked with the ticket office before going any further, they tell me the pitch has been covered overnight and it “will be on”. So on that basis I will now purchase the rest of my fare and continue northbound.
-

It is

I did say that if the pitch is playable they will have done really well.
