Straight into Crewe’s starting line up. Good luck to him.

That's a shock. Hes starting for them against Harrogate as well. Surely someone is on the way in then.

Well, didnt expect this. Agree with above, someone has to be coming in, cannot rely on TLT at this moment in time.

33, played 7 games in the last 2 seasons although Hearts have been smashing it this season. Seems well thought of up there though.

33 years old, not played since August 2025 according to soccerbase and never been out of Scotland... He may be the dogs knob, but I'm not sure he is what we really need.

Just confirmed, on loan, strange to not have a keeper of our own on our books outside the youngsters

Zander Clark on loan? No real senior keepers with the club , bizzare.

I imagine Grant and the team will be a bit gutted by this, mainly due to the fact he is a “good to have “ as back up. He was never a number 1, but never complained and pushed to be in that place without complaint - I think the reason Grant wanted him again. Trustworthy.

All the best to Ian, a real pro for us at DRFC.

Very interesting though, will Teddy come back, do we have someone lined up - you would hope so.

Might this mean that TLT is going back too? and we are signing a permanent?

Why would they be gutted if they chose to let him go.?

33 isn’t that old for a goalie

Why was Lawlor let go, he was playing better than TLT, strange decision especially before a FA tie, very sad to see Lawlor leave our club.

If he’s out of contract in the summer, we’ve probably said he won’t get a new one, and we’ve let him secure a better deal for him and his family

A good lad and was good for us. I hope he gets plenty of game time at Crewe.  Sorry to see him go.

I don’t like not having a senior keeper on the books but I’m surprised at some of the reaction here. He’s been OK recently and an improvement on TLT but he’s not suddenly become good enough to be a League One keeper just because he’s been here a while and he’s happy to sit on the bench without complaining. Good luck to him but we’re not losing someone who’s done anything particular of note over his two years here, with Boro probably the standout performance.

Not let the club down at all with his performances this season.

A little surprised another League team have come in for him at this point but given the length of contract offered can't blame him for leaving.

Think he may have done us a massive favour in forcing the manager's bizarrely reluctant hand to improve the goalkeeping position.

Good luck to him.

Neil Sullivan when he joined Rovers was 36. He is the best goalie I ever saw play for us. Fingers crossed Zander can do the same.

Lawlor has been a good professional for the club and was part of squads promoted from League 2 twice.

If it was the case that he wasn’t getting a new deal it seems that the club have done right by him and his family by letting him get a contract now elsewhere.

Thanks Lawsy and all the best!

Partly I'm surprised. He's played alright the last few weeks and I thought they'd stick by him as a solid number 2 for a few years regardless.

On the other hand you have to keep improving even if players have done ok, so if better options arrive go for it.

Always seamt a top guy though and his message upon leaving speaks volumes.

I only found out about Lawlor at the stadium today.
Very surprised at this but I suppose he has moved on to secure his future for now.
I always liked him and am sorry to see him leave.
Hopefully Clark will come in and be a good number one for us though.

Same as you hound, when I saw TLT was a starter then Lawlor wasn’t shown as a sub I my initial thoughts were an injury.

So we now have two goalkeeping loanees on our books. Strikes me then we need a good permanent keeper in if we’re to push on next season.

The best permanent keeper I can recall is Neil Sullivan!

I’d take ‘another Sully’ if there’s one out there.

That’s a wonderful message. Top man. Thanks Ian and good luck.

My memory will be the Middlesbrough cup game. Absolutely outstanding performance.

I was very critical when we resigned him but you can’t fault his professionalism and character.

Not once did it look like he moaned when time and again new goalkeepers were brought in with the intention of being number 1.

He’s clearly a great guy, I loved watching his celebrations and attitude last season especially as we got nearer to and achieved promotion despite game time being limited.

A genuine honest professional, wish him well.

I have to agree with your comments, not overly impressed with his resigning, but think a lot of this may have been due to the fact that we have seen so many good keepers come on loan to us in the past.
He’s not started many games, but think he’s done really well in the games he has played, which is more remarkable given his game time. I said at the time that his performance at Middlesbrough was not only his best performance, but the best performance I have seen from any rovers keeper in the last few years.
However he’s a good guy and excellent squad member, thinks a lot about drfc but more importantly his family.
Not really spoken to him on many occasions but he has always been courteous and respectful to all fans.
During his first spell, my daughter visited the training ground with a few other young supporters and at the end of the session my daughter was the only one who was speaking to him. At the end of the conversation he said, wait a few minutes and he ran off to changing rooms, then game back with a pair of his gloves which he signed.

I hope he does very well at Crewe and the rest of his career.

I can only see this being the case. He’s done nothing wrong of late and would have liked to have kept him here for the time being.

I was wondering if  there is a bit more to this, nothing sinister by the way, but a few weeks ago he missed a couple of games due to “family reasons” something Grant mentions in an interview about his departure was again family reasons. ( not the only reason he mentioned)
This also happened very quick, the new keeper said it was an absolute whirl wind and all happened within a few hours ( and he was talking about that day, Saturday)

His family might well live near Manchester and in my world Crewe is pretty near.
