GM has been great on recruitment yet again

GM has been great on recruitment yet again as
I don’t know about again as he sent the last four players back .
But it’s looking like we’ve got most of what we need to settle in for the rest of the season.
-
His percentage is high i feel over all. Not forgetting we wont have a huge budget either.
He needs congratulating really.
Starting to come together I think too. We wont win them all and Bradford on Saturday is a tough one.
-
Bradford aren’t a great side and the wheels are starting to come off somewhat. IF we can keep things tight at the back i think we can reek some havoc at the other end

Again ? Give over.
Looks like the okoronkwo gamble might pay off though hopefully
-
In hindsight maybe he should only be allowed to recruit players in January? Still early days for the new lads but I am starting to get nervous in my prediction that Frankie won't score more than 5 goals.

If he scores 5 goals that'll be a decent return, alongside Mols, Bailey, Haks, Billy contributing at least 5 each too.
McCann may have just pulled four more rabbits out of the hat with Haks, Frankie, Robinson and Byrne all slotting in nicely.
It's a funny old game!
-
With hindsight degree in my pocket, it had to be better than the summer recruitment!
-
Haks and frankie have completed the top end, pace, power and goals all over the side..
-
While i like upturn in optimism and i do think the performances have improved since the start of the new year.
Lets not get too carried away here. The teams we have played recently wernt exactly coming into those matches in a good run of form themselves.
-
But thats football, all teams go thriugh good and bad runs and have to play each other.
It doesn't mean when you lose, all the players are rubbish.
-
From the Meet the Owners event sounds like the club are looking more closely at the use of analytics for improving recruitment. I wonder what GM will make of this.

Isn’t every club in the football league moving more in this direction anyway?

He would have been a massive part in the decisions

We should have been doing this well before now

Yes, that's exactly what Gavin touched on,
wasn't dissing recruitment, just saying the analytics side can be a help to the recruitment team. Just goes to show we are recognising recruitment isn't quite what it should be & are taking steps to improve it, that's how I viewed it anyway.
-
It depends how far into analytics we’re really going doesn’t it?
For any of it to actually be a real game changer you first need buy-in from those who are going to be given the information and tasked with acting on it. Is that really gonna be the case with McCann and Glover?
-
Why wouldn't they? It will be them driving it

It would be a real change of heart from Grant if he began putting his faith in data driven recruitment. It may be the case that this is exactly what has happened, but it would be a surprising development.
-
So why can’t the data just be another strand to recruitment rather than the be all and end all
-
It won't be one or the other it will probably help find the obscure players that seem to get picked up by other clubs.
Or will help save us signing one player that ends up costing us more than they return back in performance
-
What Gavin said was that improving the data, would help the recruitment team to narrow down the number of players so that they can spend more time to focus on a more selective group of players.
At present time is being taken by watching a large volume of games all around the country.
Makes total sense really.

Why woundn't he be a apart of it. He is a part of all the other changes.

At the risk of repeating myself, it is plausible that Grant is part of it, but it would be a surprise given his recent stance on analytics driven recruitment (he's been against it).

With every player fit and available aside from Ben Close, in the starting XI tonight (before Clark got injured) there was precisely 1 (one) of the summer signings either loan or permanent.

Ah last ...... a job for CazLaz and syndicate? Are you in the running Lad?
