Didn't see that one coming but good player. Big character and performer at Wrexham, well loved for his craft at creating chances and scoring vital goals.

Ideal candidate for the no 10 role?

Having said no more players coming in Grant plays his trump card on the night of the MTO. Nice play, boss. That will kill the doubters. Could be even better signing than Frankie.

Born when his dad was playing for ‘Keegan’s Newcastle Utd’.

This is a statement signing right on deadline day just when we thought it’s Billy or nothing!

Can play in that No.10 role & knows where the net is too.

Not the mould of player to be a direct alternative to replace Frankie but a good pedigree nonetheless and will be a good option to fill the void in the interim.

A record of 4 in 9 v us and for 4 different clubs. At worst it stops him from joining another L1 club and continuing along that theme.

Could see a bit better football on show with him, Molyneux and Adelakun shifting about. Certainly can’t be using him the same was as Hanlan/Frankie and lobbing it up in hope it sticks.

Can’t see it really as Wrexham played 2 up top which is a very different role to playing as a lone striker for us.

Think he’ll be a 10 and a good one at that. We did need that.

Don’t know anything about him. It’s a fact though that he hasn’t played a single minute of league football this season and last played any football on 23 September. His pedigree looks good though so let’s hope he’s been keeping fit in training.

Yes, can't help but be concerned about his fitness. Just hope we don't expect too much too soon in terms of minutes on the pitch.

Obviously though with Wrexham wanting to sign anyone with any semblance of ability it's tough to get a game there with a huge squad, plus he did have surgery.

I like this one, even if he doesn't play up top we can't rely solely on Clifton and he is an upgrade on Sbarra.

Without actually checking Wrexham seem to have about 40 players and they add to it every transfer window.

Quality footballer and a great bloke. You've got yourselves a great player.

Always turned up in big games for us and scored some crucial goals. Was hugely instrumental in our surge from the National League.

Wrexham fans, all of us, cannot speak highly enough of him. I'd be amazed if you found just one who didn't rate him in the highest regard.

Well he's certainly a proven player who's performed at a level where we want to go. Good signing and could become a fans favourite if Grant can get him to his best which is one of Grants  strengths. Just hope this doesn't mean Bailey is going this window. Welcome to Doncaster Elliot Lee. Could have a chance to get him permanent in the summer should he do well and settle and find a home.

All I know of him is from the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, but amongst the Hollywood spin he certainly seemed to consistently deliver the goals and performances through their three promotion seasons. Looks a great signing, and he says about 4 times about wanting to play for a manager who will put faith in him so it sounds like his days at Wrexham are over and a longer deal could be possible.

But also hilarious that some of the same people who slagged fans off, stating you can’t judge a signing based on his CV and to not judge a player before he’s kicked a ball for us… are doing just that here.  :silly:

Yes, it sounds like he could be a contender for the no10 shirt in place of Clifton, if so do we lose the energy and back tracking of Clifton with him?

I'd like to see a player like him in a front 2 with a player like Francis alongside him.

Sounds like a very good signing for us.

This was possibly our best eleven in the first half of the season...

Gibson Hanlan Molyneux
Clifton
Broadbent Bailey
Maxwell McGrath O'Riordan Sterry
TLT

Now we're looking like this...

Adelakun Francis Molyneux
Lee
Gotts Bailey
JM/JS McGrath Byrne Sterry
Clark

The attacking part of the second half of the season definitely looks an upgrade.

If he puts a run of games together he’ll be our best piece of business this window.

I wonder if Grant might try him just off Hak whilst Frankie is out.

Enormous upgrade on Clifton quality wise long term, will require some tactical adjustments though I imagine but worthwhile for a player of his quality.

Clifton doesn’t really play as a no10 though does he. We have one holding midfielder and two more advanced in (generally) Clifton and Bailey. Not sure EL will cover the ground Clifton does, Bailey may have to be a bit more disciplined, sure Gotts, Bailey and Lee could make it work in there though.

Grant may be tempted to play him as a no9 in the absence of FO, don’t love that idea but we will see.

Positionally a #10 OOP to help win the ball then in possession similar to Bailey as pretty much a box to box mid.

I deffo wont as I was brought up NEVER to judge a man on one appearance by my dad and though hes no.longer with us I stick to that principle.

The nearest I got to breaking that tradition was with Herbie Kane who was having a great game the first time I saw him and my Seat Buddies said come on Wolfie say what you think

I said sorry Im sticking with my view that you should never judge a player on one appearance

Next game I saw him he beat 2 players in front of the Dug outs and half a yard apart and I said f*** it Ive waited longer than one game as its 1 game and 5 minutes ... hes bloody great

Maybe I should have waited longer because I was sure he would go right to the top but hasn't.

Yes, not a pure no 10 but Clifton in general play is the one who gets up to support the front man, whilst also being prepared to get behind the ball and lead the press when out of possession. Bailey of course, tries to make the odd blind side late runs into the box.

If memory serves, Lee is a very hard worked and is quite tenacious, so no reason (apart from fitness) why he couldn't cover the same ground as Clifton. He's definitely a good ball striker too so, this is where we'd hope just to see that bit of extra quality.
Title: Re: Elliot Lee

We’d probably have to play 2 6s with Lee so we get the best out of him. Clifton and Bailey often play so high together but it does leave us open. Having a better quality out and out 10 might mean we can balance that out

Lots of glowing comments on the Wrexham forum about him, 100% positive.

Yes some great comments from the Wrexham fans, treating him has a legend. Many commenting that they thought he would have gone to a club at top end of L1.
Although saying his lack of pace is most likely the only reason he’s not being played in championship, many feel he should have been included in more match day squads.
Obviously a good footballer, but also seems like he is a great guy to have in the dressing room and on the pitch, so should fit well into our group. If he his close to being match fit, he could be a huge signing.

Just hope he’s fit and stays fit after missing a decent chunk of the season. Finally replaced Coppinger!
