Title: One game from Wembley
Post by: roversdaft on February 10, 2026, 09:09:57 pm
Unbelievably we are only one game from Wembley.

Semi final, surely Grant doesn’t put that starting line up out??

The team that played tonight has for us this far and beat Middlesbrough in the league cup.  Hard to change it but understand why he would.

Is it definitely Stockport next? The vertu cup website states the vertu cup is regionalised UP TO the semi finals. Is that including the SF or not? Not clear to me unless I’m having a senior moment? (Which is always possible!).

No we can play either Stockport, Northampton, Luton or Plymouth home or away in a one off tie.

We scrape through at home to Plymouth avenging the 5-1 thrashing.

You should claim the senior moment mate.
Up to the semi final is where we are at now.
So the next game could be against any of the remaining clubs after the quarter finals.

If we get a home draw I may actually end the boycott TBF.

The last time we got this far there was 12000 at the Keepmoat for the semi. There will be no where near that this time if we get a home draw. The comp has gone down hill since then. That said, it would be great to get to wembley again and the club should cut the prices if we get a home draw.  :rtid:

Claimed!!  :woot: It was just everyone saying we were playing Stockport, even the DFP said we’d set up a SF against Stockport! I did wonder.

We played Bristol Rovers at Cardiff. They were from the Southern section, we from the North.

We played Crewe in the semi (aka) the northern final. Great game. I’m sure we were 0-2 down at half time, then went on to win 3-2. pricey scored in the last minute. It was 6-5 on aggregate. 3-3 at Gresty, first leg.

We only play Stockport if we happen to be drawn against them.
The semi final draw isn’t regional anymore so we could play any of the other three semi finalists.

What's the betting we get Stockport away? It would just be our luck this season!

It would say ‘up to and including’ if it did include the semi’s!

How many do people think wore would take to Wembley? Can’t get 1500 for the home games then take 20,000 to the final.

We took over 18,000 to Cardiff in 2007, bit easier to get to Wembley than Cardiff

We'd take plenty. I imagine a lot (not all) of stances would soften and "boycotts" disappear.

I would be disappointed if we didn't take 20,000 to Wembley if we got there. We know plenty of folk come out of the woodwork. Friends and friends of friends etc who support other clubs for example. When we went to Wembley and Cardiff, friends of a friend went and one was a Miller, the other a Grimsby fan!

We’d take anything from 15-18k this time round I reckon. I was there last year in the Wycombe end, stadium looked so empty. Wycombe took 15k and Peterborough 23k. It’s such a dear doo for most people now, especially families.
