Title: A good season keep going
Post by: mpc123 on February 21, 2026, 02:32:47 pm
Get in there Hanlan!! A win at Rotherham, double over Rotherham, spurs cup away, and 1 game away from wembley.

Keep going rovers and shut those moaners up!

I thought we were terrible first half, like rabbits in the headlights. A second goal for them and it would have been game over. Much better second half and great to see Middleton doing the job he was brought in to do - skin the full back and bang over dangerous crosses. Still not convinced about Hanlan but was very effective today. I was convinced the equaliser was offside but I'll take it. Great play by Molly for the winner and brilliant that the long drought away at Rotherham is finally over. Thought the referee was dreadful by the way. Not very convincing but hey, a win's a win. Onwards and upwards we go boys. :rtid:

We are now the only team in the division with 4 wins out of the last 6 games, the push upwards has not ended yet I hope.

Yes, very few teams can average 2 points per game in the run in. We've seen in the last two season just how quickly things can change while going under the radar.

Cardiff and Bolton have 4 wins too and Lincoln have 5 if i'm not mistaken.

Cardiff beaten today by Plymouth could be top of form table soon

I’m far from a moaner but it’s too early to call this a good season. Prior to January we have been poor overall. It has the potential to be a good season overall come May but as it stands it’s far too early to call this a good season.

The first 6 and last 9 games have seen us take 30 points..  it’s the other 9 points from 17 games that hurts.!

And it'll be even better when Haks and Lee start playing well.

Very best scenerio is 7pts with games in hand if we won them and only Huddersfield on 52 are the ones to catch.

That is really best case though.

Lee’s an interesting one. I was very excited when we signed him but I’m not sure where he fits into this team. I think he’s most suited to games where we dominate the ball but those are likely to be few and far between. Early days but will be interesting to see how much of an impact he actually has.

Lee will work a lot better when Frankie is back and he’s playing off of him

Spot on that. I think he and we will get better for Frankie’s return. I’m not convinced on Adelakun, I think he’s a lazy bas**rd.

Interestingly, in 23/24 after 32 games our record was following big away win at Grimsby...

P32 W10 D6 L16 F42 A57 -15 Pts 36

6th place at that time was on 53 points.

Our current record is
P32 W11 D6 L15 F36 A51 -15 pts 39

6th place currently on 52pts.

Remarkably similar. In 23/24 we were yet to suffer the 3-1 defeat at Walsall and had recently been stuffed 5-1 at home by Stockport.

Can't happen again can it?

Given what McCann said about Okoronkwo last week, he could well be in the squad next Saturday. If Close really was just a knock, then you'd expect him to be in contention then also. That only leaves Clark, and it sounds like he is maybe two weeks away. That then gives us a full squad for what will be a very demanding month of March with 8 games in the month including that massive trek down to Plymouth. Otherwise we are quite lucky with lots of home games (5/8) and short away trips to Barnsley and Bolton).

Mols has got be a bit of a worry he seemed to have been holding his hamstring before the foul from Gray, he had an ice pack when he came over at the end of the- hopefully just precautionary

Dont think so.

Much stronger league this time around.
Lets just concentrate on avoiding relegation and look to strengthen in the summer for a stronger push next season.

On the basis that our run-in 2 years ago was record-breaking, so exceptional, it would be both a phenomenal achievement and an unlikely coincidence for any team to do it again so soon, let alone the same team. Who would be brave enough to make such a wager? ……….mpc123??

I think you have confused positivity with stupidity.
