Apologies if already posted but can't see it elsewhere. Seems the Championship are going to introduce the non-league playoff structure where 6 teams compete as opposed to 4 although some of it is still 2-legged and the final at Wembley. Can see why clubs have voted for it as presumably means more TV money and that a top 8 finish could see you in the Prem. I like the play offs (I know others don't) but not sure finishing 8th out of 24 indicates being good enough to be promoted.

Interesting move, however can the statto’s tell us how often the team that finishes in the last playoff place actually goes up versus the team one place off automatic.

This has come initially from the teams in the National League wanting 3 up, 3 down and the EFL have took the idea and run with it. I personally think a team finishing eighth on goal difference is a bit much, it should stop at 6. Same with the National League it’s ok promoting 3 teams but a lot of the teams that come up have one maybe two good seasons but then start to fall back because the money runs out and the novelty wears off. Like last season how many did we take to Bromley on a Tuesday night, 600/700 because nobody had been before. Also the National League as it stands 8 out of top 10 are ex league teams and most of them have a large fan base and a long history, Carlisle,Scunthorpe,York,Southend. Teams like Morecambe, Sutton,Harrogate and I dare say Salford will always struggle to attract support,backing and players without getting themselves into serious debt …

I like this move, why not? I also think we should have 3 up from the national league now. Id probably go further though and restructure to have 4 EFL leagues of 20.

I suspect it is probably minimal like you say tbf and the effect on mid-table games in April could be interesting.

Definitely agree on 3 up although I do sense a slight irony that a lot of the ex league teams pushing for it were probably against 2 up when they thought they were safe EFL (Endsleigh!) teams.

Will lead to more owners risking the lot for that 1 shot at glory and it’ll increase the amount of clubs who make it to the premier league and become the whipping boys because they’re nowhere near ready or good enough.
Derby nearly died 2/3 years ago because of a desperate owner, now under this new structure if it was implemented today and the season ended, they’d potentially be premier league next season.
The pull to splurge money you probably shouldn’t is just getting bigger and bigger, especially for the American owners who have only got into English football for the Premier League £’s.
