I was having my doubts about Neil but his last two performances have been excellent. His save from Tyson on Saturday and the saves on Tuesday night (particularly the two pushed onto the post at 0-0) were every bit as vital as the goals we scored in the two victories.
Top goalie and a top bloke !!

what surprised me was out of all the highlights on sky,itv and the bbc none of them happened to show sullis saves cant understand this cos as you rightly say they were just as important as the two goals

The Guy is pure class, I think he has at least 2 more seasons in him. Fingers Crossed

problem with sullivan as he as made a couple of world class saves in last two games
to which rovers have won,there is no rovers fans asking questions...
in the next couple of games sullivan 'might' have a mare or two,to which rovers do not pick up 3pts,to which questions could well be asked by rovers fans.
whats agianst the keeper at KMS, is his age as that alone will come into the equation
and sooner or later see a new shot stopper bedding in his roots for the hoops.

Some? He's the best keeper we've had since I started watching Rovers-encompassing Andy Warrington, Lee Butler, Alan Blayney, Jan Budtz, Ben Smith and probably a couple of others as well. Great post, I totally agree. Age is irrelevant for me as long as he continues to perform to the standard he's at now. It's not a surprise that he was in the Premier League for nearly 15 years.

has anyone seen gary woods in action at all? myself i dont really rate smithy as a back up he still has alot to learn it would seem, so who would we buy or would it be better to get a keeper on loan assuming sully doesnt continue next season

He was an excellent shot stopper but I nearly shit myself everytime he came to gather a cross - I imagine that is why he has never played at a higher level.

Seeing as Sully's \"life\" begins next Wednesday he should be around a bit longer.
He still gets a bit excited though.

Absolutely spot on. He will make mistakes, keepers do, & after all he is 39. But the plusses far outweigh his frailties, his experience is invaluable as he has proved many times, Tuesday night being one, & let us not forget the last 15/20 minutes at Wembley where he showed both his experience & class.

I think in line with SODs take on players taking responsibility that he'll (within reason) leave it to Sully to decide how long he wants to go on for which is why we've got two young keepers as back up and haven't gone out and bought a serious contender for his position.
He seems to be enjoying it, seems to respect the players in front of him and the saying above about form/class sums the situation up fine for me.
