Title: New Songs?
Post by: Mr Croft on February 19, 2010, 04:36:32 pm
People (including myself) have been blabbering on about a singing section, and someone pointed out isnt it time to make some new songs, we have remained with the originals for quite some time now, yes we have developed some more (I am a Rovers fan..) (We don't care) (everywhere we go)

but the majority of new songs only come about for new players, isnt it time we start creating a new set of songs to sing and this will surely boost our atmosphere?

Anyone have any ideas?

I'll set the ball rolling then:

(same tune as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lELMlvVGDKY)

My eyes have seen the glory and my heart has felt the pain
When Richardson was here I thought we never play again
But after 50 years were in the Championship again
As the Reds go marching on on on...

(Don't think we should say Glory Glory donny rovers :S)

I am a Belle Vue boy and that is all Ill ever be
Until some Keepmoat B*stards took my ground away from me
We've still got all the passion and were still DRFC
As the Reds go marching on on on...

How about (in readiness for the Barnsley game next month)
To the tune of London Bridge is falling down.

Billy Sharp is a red
Is a red
Is a red
Billy Sharp is a red
He hates Dingles

Yes, I acknowledge my position on the Board of Grumpy Old B***tards Plc, but I find it sad that an internet forum should be consistently used to try and promote terrace chants.

I thought that the whole point was a spontaneous, beer & adrenoline-fuelled release of steam to accompany the highs and lows of supporting your team?

Two or three mates would start a song, and if it was any good, those stood next to them would take it up, proud to boast that they were then when that particular anthem became fashionable.

I suppose there will be a new TV show any time now, where Simon callow will nurture and train a gaggle of spotty youths in naff polyester replica kits to produce an anodyne, but harmonious ode to their favourite team, for public acclaim.

All accompanied by a plonker with a drum.

I was thinking of a song that can stick for the club, not a player who is gonna f**k off sharpish :P :)

Yeah but if he doesnt play or does go, the song is dead, I was thinking of a new classic for the team, not a player

If you are going to get all so correct about it, I demand that you provide me with irrefutable evidence that you have ever titilated a young lady by stimulating her nether regions with a stick of celery.

Over to you...............photos would be appreciated!

on the cellary front do you recalll a certian donnywhite who was conned into hiring
that all in one massive cartoon rabbit outfit, cost him 20euros to hire off the local bint

to which he had to put the said rabbit on and go infront of all the chelsea fans
outside that pub on las ramblas giving it the 'leeds wave' and shouting 'leeds leeds leeds'

if he did all the donny lads would throw in 20euros each, must have been 8 of us from donny

said donnywhite did all what was asked of him,all the chelsea lot stood there pissing them sens as us donny were all wetting are pants on the floor

said donnywhite then came across to us all wanting his pay day
'you have two hopes no hope and bob hope'

then all the chelsea lot were launching cellary at him

the next time chelsea played out in barca the year after all the local street
spivs were walking round with bags of cellary to sell on the chelsea fans

talk about seeing a gap in the market.

add or edit as you like
also i did post a thread on herewith new songs on but nobody tbh seems interested in even attempting them they may not be brilliant but really i am yet to see anyone bar mr croft to even be bothered about it, we all agree a better atmosphere is required we are trying eve if not suceeding on getting a singing section at least we could have some decent songs to sing if we get, even if other clubs sing them i still believe we need a different so called anthem to the one we have where we all chip in and change the words but this also will not work without a singing section so firstly this must be sorted then get some new songs and then a anthem that we can really belt out and is unique to our club like most have said none of this can really take effect till next season but the planning and actionmust start now so its all sorted

I've been following the rovers for 25 years and to be honest all these new songs grind on me. When we had a hard core following of 3000 at belle vue where everyone was a true Rovers fan not just jumped on the band waggon from our recent success everyone would sing their heart out. There was no need for forums to make up new songs...Why can't we sing the old traditional ones. Every club who we,ve played in recent years still sing the traditional songs which everyone knows and it sounds awesome. We have a few hundred if we're lucky sing these lame unknown songs for the majority. Stick to the old ones.

what about the old one like...

we all follow the rovers over land and sea......

and

hello, hello we are the donny boys.....

these are good traditional songs and need to be used more to show the pride we have for being donny fans.

I'm not a big fan of singling out players for 2 reasons. One we are a team and we should support them all and the songs we've got for our players are rubbish...brian stocks is a prime example.
