Title: Ski jumping
Post by: BillyStubbsTears on February 20, 2010, 08:35:24 pm
Severe inconsistency from the BBC.

They have a Little Englander pronunciation policy which means that they typically pronounce Anglicised variations of foreign words. For example, for Don Quixote, you'll often here a BBC presenter making a tit of themselves by pronouncing it \"Don Quicksowt\"

Imagine my disappointment when it got to No 35 in the ski jump tonight and they insisted on pronouncing his name with a Germanicised \"V\" instead of the English \"W\".

As it happebs by the way, Andreas VVank was actually quite good.

The same always applied when they mentioned Stefan \"Kerntz\".

How much better would it be if they said: \"Germany have got the ball back. Kuntz.\"
