Title: Idea to avoid confusion!
Post by: Bentley Bullet on February 25, 2010, 09:30:36 pm
Would it be a good idea if members of this forum had their date of birth on their profiles so readers can identify whether some of the posts are the work of uneducated kids, or adults with learning difficulties?

Do you need assistance judging the worth of someone's opinion?

Personally, I just read what they have to say and go from there.

However, I do think we should know if a poster is fat or ginger, because quite honestly their opinions suck!

Does being 22 or 62 make your opinion less valid then?

Nah - but Bob G is old and when younger could certainly have passed for ginger ;)

In my view: Old bas**rds are seldom knowingly wrong, and young t**ts are seldom knowingly right ..... and then there's the fat f**kers who are always right (about pies & lager) but then there's the Welsh ....

Bentley, this whiffs of age discrimination and prejudice to me. Why would you class someone's validity of opinion on their age and intelligence? Rather sadistic of you!

This is a forum after all. The point is to share opinions and to be free from prejudice that you might find in social situations.

I'm 40, I have a 12 inch cock and a great personality.

Actually, a bit of an exaggeration there - I am a misreable Kitson.

I don’t see where I’m guilty of age discrimination in my post, I mention both youth and adults that are hard of thinking, and treat some of their posts  with equal contempt.
Unfortunately, for some people football is the only outlet where they feel qualified to have an opinion. It is probably the only topic in their lives that they have managed to sustain any interest in because of its simplicity.
It allows them to talk really, really, really complete rubbish without repercussions because it is just ‘in their honest opinion’, and they can change their point of view at any time when it suits, often adopting the extra sense gifted to them by god… hindsight.
It allows them to abuse fellow human beings without fear of retribution. Where else can they be their loudest, but most unseen by the people they are tormenting?
It allows them to cheer Billy Sharp, when his shot at goal goes out for a throw in!
It allows them to boo Lewis Guy, before he’s even kicked the ball!
It allows them to ridicule Shelton Martis, after nerves got the better of him on his debut!
It allows them to blame Mark Wilson, when Brian Stock has a bad game!
It allows them to say Gareth Roberts is out of his depth in the Championship!
It allows them to say Gareth Roberts is fantastic……the following season!
It allows them to say Sean O’Driscoll is the best manager we’ve ever had, but he doesn’t know a poor player when he see’s one!

OK ... why not start us off with your age BUT ... judging by your last post I guess that is not you in the picture !

Also you seemed to have spelt everything pretty much right too which can be a pointer to a more mature poster !

... it certainly DOES NOT especially when it comes to Football & Rovers

Everyones opinion is valid (but to misquote George Orwell) some peoples opinions are more valid than others !

I thought it was the ladies who were supposed to be squeamish about revealing their age..lol

I always tend to think perhaps there is a clue in the numbers some posters carry in their names ?

45 and three quarters  btw :)

I'm not for or against it,I let the moderators decide what they feel is needed and will obey by their decision but what If this was implemented, whats to stop the new users who do not want their age to be known registering with a false age?Hence the reason behind it being pointless?

Having given this a great deal of though (in between opening my Bottles of Leffe) I say lets go with the Star Sign of each poster which can be far more revealing

I will go first

January 21 - February 19

Aquarius born people are often thought of as the ‘original thinkers’ of the zodiac. They love playing with ideas and it is common to find them attracted to subjects that are complex. They love words too and have a wonderful ability to mix with people from every sort of background. It is common then for them to have a wide circle of friends. Joining groups – or even starting groups – comes naturally to them.Yet they do not follow blindly. It is almost as though they need to understand the thinking of a group before they can develop their own particular path. During adolescence as they try out their logic within the family, they can appear argumentative and ‘stroppy’. As another of the Fixed signs of the zodiac they can also appear stubborn and difficult. Yet they are fiercely loyal and have unquestionable integrity. A tendency to see the world in black and white can get them into trouble. Discovering shades of grey is troubling for them. Yet they are compassionate, forgiving and as sensitive as any of the Water signs. They are proud too. It is not easy for them to admit an error of judgement although they demand that others face up to their responsibilities.

OH DEAR OH DEAR OH DEAR

Aries March 21 - April 20

These children would love to be brave, to show courage and leadership. This is a steep learning curve. In their eagerness to be adventurous, to show initiative and enthusiasm they often fall at the first hurdle. They may be accident-prone and risk-taking can get then into all sorts of mischief. You may find yourself endlessly asking them to think before they act. They need fresh air and physical activity to thrive. They respond well to being given responsibility but need to be encouraged to analyse their actions. Given their tendency to rush headlong into action – or speech - before thinking, they can appear brutish and insensitive. Even so, they are warm-hearted and generous and know exactly how to say sorry and to leave others feeling better for being part of their world. It is not easy to parent these individuals as they seem to need to learn through experience and resist being told how and what to do. They learn quickly however. Indeed, they carry out most tasks ‘at speed’ and can amaze others with their accomplishments. A competitive streak is often present. They respond well to goals and targets – very often setting these for themselves.

The last bit looks good \"they respond to goals\" so I take it you are up singing du du du duh duh duh duh etc ?

Not a Taurus are we ?

Dont answer that I have decided Gemini

May 22 - June 21

Children born under this sign tend to be fidgety. Their minds require constant stimulation. Conversation is their life-blood - unless they have a good book to read. They thrive on ideas and discussion and can be excellent debaters. Being on the move suits them – though they are not suited to travelling alone. They thrive on company and have a range of interests. They are ideally suited to multi-tasking but run the danger of being jack-of-all-trades and master-of-none. Their highly tuned nervous systems require that they enjoy good quality air. They may also benefit from breathing exercises as they can over-stimulate and then exhaust themselves. Their minds tend to work faster than their physical systems and hand-writing can be a problem as a result. It is not easy for them to ‘live in the moment’, their minds generally race ahead and it is not always easy for them to keep up with themselves. This can lead to physical problems. They are not always good at listening to their inner voices and have a tendency to burn the candle at both ends. Learning to give their brains – and vocal chords – time off, can be quite a challenge.

...SOME OF IT SEEMS JUST YOU ! Even though I did not know your age until a minute ago !

Thats me to a tee.. it's why I'm always at my puter, flitting from page to page, I get so bored and restless.. also have a dreadfully short attention span, on the very rare occasion I see something I think might interest me on tv, by the time it is actually aired I've become bored with the idea and avoid it.. I'm wierd like that.

I'm always three steps ahead in a conversation too, and tend to change the subject in mid flow, you have to really know me to keep up with my thought patterns..lol

Age discrimination is implied in your original post. It shows that you presume all kids are 'uneducated'. If that isn't age discrimination related to the validity of an opinion then i have obviously got the definition confused with that of ignorance.

It's even displayed in your post title with the word 'confusion'. Imagine if you saw a half-decent post on this forum - checked the profile of the poster to determine the age - and realised that it was an 'uneducated' kid. How confusing would that be!

In determining age, there are only a few factors to go on from posts, but I would be very surprised if I was massively wrong on any of the posters on here by bracketing them into 15-20, 20-26, 26-35, 35-50, 50-60, 60-99 years:
Limited factors but:

their knowledge of DRFC (ie when they started, doesn't make them less of a fan)
their posts on life in general
their composition of posts
their interpretation/grasp of the English word
and lastly what they have actually revealed in terms of their age

By the way I'm not going to guess, incase I seriously offend anyone.

and by the way, by the way. I am a March Pisces: Well endowed, funny, intelligent, muscular, popular and a huge hit with the chicks.

and by the way, by the way, by the way. I agree with the post further up, I read everything on it's merit there and then. If it's shit, I will read no further. If it's decent (no matter how short or long) I will read on.

Not far off you I guess !

February 20 - March 20

Creativity oozes from people born under this sign. They have rich imaginations and uncommon artistic ability – traits that are usually visible in their early lives. Determining reality from fantasy can prove a problem however. They are naturally and perhaps incurably romantic, and are often portrayed as having no sense of direction. They may also be accused of being forgetful, excessively untidy and careless. Their emotional control may leave something to be desired – especially during adolescence. When they find something they like – whether that’s a person, a subject or a hobby – they may show signs of addiction. They can find it hard to say ‘no’ to friends and may subsequently get themselves into trouble – occasionally seriously. Theirs is a world where there are few boundaries. Learning that conforming to the status quo is pre-requisite to entering the adult world can be an excessively painful experience. They are gifted in role-playing however and may show considerable talent in the dramatic arts. Freedom of movement is important to them. Ability in the swimming pool or on the dance floor is common. They also enjoy being part of something larger than themselves. Perhaps this is why they’re drawn to events that attract large crowds! Despite this, it’s hard for others to enter their inner world.
