Woodfield Farm near B&Q

The Crown at Barnbrough is a very good touch, 3 meats - locally sourced and little touches like mint gravy, cheese brocolli and the range of beers are decent; Stones on tap.
Jesus, I sound like the CAMARA guide.

Its CAMRA, not CAMARA. And Stones on tap would certainly NOT be recommended by CAMRA. :S

Manor Farm at Old Denaby has always been good for us.
-
I've been told the Cadeby Inn is pretty good these days but I haven't tried it myself.
-

Can't say this is typical, but just my experience.
I went to the Woodfield Farm last summer with colleagues after work, and had a good steak, great value too. So the next week, just fancying a value meal with the wife went back. Unfortunately, half way through my meal I found a hair lurking under a chip.
Now I have a strong stomach and can handle an unpleasant surprise like a hair, except that, well this hair had never, EVER lived on anyone's head, if you get my drift. There could be no mistake, those 'other' kinds of hair have a shape and thickness all of their own.
Didn't finish my steak! :(
-
Did you mention this to the staff?
-
Certainly did, the waitress I called over took a quick look at it, grimmaced, said it couldn't be a pube, picked it off my chip and rubbed it off here hand onto her pinny, I kid you not. In a flash the evidence was gone. We left.

Without paying I hope!

Ahhh Stones! Started my drinking as a young un on that stuff in Askern Welfare and it's the only ale I've had where you can either have a swift couple after work or enough to drown a donkey, and you still wake up the morning after with a head that feels like it could explode at any time! God knows what they brew the stuff with but its evil!
My suggestions are Marr Lodge or Burghwallis Club, although to be honest its been a year since I've been but both were always excellent when I used them.
-
A mate of mine went to Burghwallis club a few weeks ago with a lady friend for a carvery meal and he says it was excellent. Also hear that the new place in Barnby Dun do a nice carvery.
-
Green Tree just outside Hatfield is a personal favourite of ours.
-
The Palfs in Cantley, Pickburn Arms or the Rockingham all do a decent Carvery.
-
Cadeby inn was absolute quality, but they are not doing carverys after next week, its going to a straight from the kitchen 3 course meal at £18.95.
Great quailty food, fantastic service just a shame when you went up they didnt have everything out, you always had to wait for something or another.
Thinwhiteduke, Green Tree????? its £3.50!!! says it all in my opinion.
Woodhouse farm is the worst place i have ever been too, went a few weeks back and promptly left, im not sure where these 'people' who had packed it out had come from but chuff me there couldnt have been a pikey camp too far away. Ended up in Cheswolds and had suprisingly good meal, 2 for £9 as well, off back on Wednesday prior to the England game.

You`ve obviously not been to the Green Tree carvery then?
It may only be £3.50 but it`s a damn fine carvery!
-
Its actually gone up its now £3.59 ;) , ive been loads of times usually go before a night match as i pick up my Dad in Hatfield, im sorry although great value you dont actually expect to get quality, comparing what i had at Cadeby inn to the Green tree is like comparing Billy Sharp and Lewis guy.
Plus its not £3.59 on a sunday its over £6 if i remember, for a couple of quid extra theres no comparison.

Already been said on here. You cannot beat the on next to Sainsburys on Thorne Rd. Punches place....Tired Man or whatever. Excellent food, choice and at 1 deep sea diver, value for money too
