Must be that sort of day today- just heard that the former Labour Party leader (and massive Plymouth Argyle fan) Michael Foot has died. At least he had a good innings- 96.

Christ its hit me like a ton of bricks that. Really shocked.

One of them guys who was truly passionate of all things football.

Gone far too young. Condolences to his family.

Another sad loss.

An article in the Guardian states he was the first full-time black manager, following a caretaker spell for Ed Stein earlier in the year. This got me thinking, I'm pretty sure Tony Cunningham was appointed Rovers caretaker-manager for a short while around the same era, can anyone confirm?

Awful news, always came across as a good man with a good sense of humour.  A big shame.

Tony Cunningham was Rovers caretaker-manager for four games (P 4 D 1 L 3)following Steve Beaglehole's sacking in December 1993. He held the position until succeded by Ian Atkins in January 1994.

It's amazing what the shame of losing to Notts County can do to a man.

Very sad news, I was shocked to hear earlier today, he always seemed like a very nice man, a sound and passionate footballing person. Was delighted when he returned from his health problems, but maybe they just caught him up in the end.

RIP Keith Alexander.

Obviously a day for the nice-guys to bow out.

If this yin-yang thing really works, I'll await the news that Maggie Thatcher and Mark Wright have chucked a seven tomorrow.

Why is it a 'seven'? I never did understand that phrase. Or is it a reference to something?

Cheers

Me, I quite like \"Jingle Bowels\"

EDIT: Apologies for this becoming rather disrespectful in a thread about a fine footballing man.

How very sad. Condolences to Keith's family & friends. I remember him scoring against us for Grimsby in the eighties when they turned us over 5-0 at Blundell Park, he was a menace all night. Best way I could describe Keith as a player was he was a bit like Leo, gangly & clumsy at times but always won his fair share of headers & had decent control for a big lad. Incedentally, our own Richard O'Kelly was a teamate of Keith's that night. Such a sad loss at a young age.

Its a real shame about Keith, a very good manager at that level and always reported to be a very genuine bloke to boot.

I always remember his return from illness when he was the manager at Lincoln and the applause the Rovers fans gave him prior to the game. That day actually made me proud to be a rovers fan as the reception was fantastic.

RIP

I remember him as a player but it's as a manager where his legacy will live on.  A gentleman through & through football's loss is Heaven's gain
