Hate to blow my own trumpet, but (http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/index.php?option=com_kunena&Itemid=57&func=view&catid=999999&id=55356#5538)...
The gutting thing is I never put a bet on myself.
Got as far as depositing some funds and selecting Billy, but persuaded myself not to press the confirm button as cash was a bit tight.
Think a few people had a punt on this. Hope it comes in. :)
*edit actually looking at those odds, the bookie was asleep at the wheel.
Both Sharp and Maynard were on 9 goals but the odds were far apart.
Maynard 11/2
Sharp 50/1

I had a few sheckels each way on Billy. Presumably that means a top 3 finish to get something back.

Just re-read that thread of yours and owe you a few beers if mine come in. Would never have thought the odds would be that good, until you posted that.
2 easy affordable bets at 51/1 on WLS. One to finish tops and one to finish in top 4.
Although there is a selfish part of me (towards DRFC only and not to my own coffers.....does this make me a Rovers Martyr) that says we get to 53 points and send him back to SUFC for him to disappear off the radar for a few months. If it meant that was the case, and we nip in for a cheeky deal in closed season un-opposed, I would gladly settle for that.
Edit Just seen your post Rob. If you did Skybet like me, it's for a top 4 finish. Get's better for you.....although you could become a martyr like me
-
Yes, mate, it is Skybet. Happy days, if Bilston keeps doing the business. Mr Emmanuel-Thomas can assist as long as he doesnt hog the finishing limelight! ;-)
Edit : Spot on thqt its 1/4 odds top 4.

Interesting link here:

Sharp (and Chopra) top scorers from open play. Billy needs a few more penalties.
Never thought of an e/w. Ouch. 12.5 to 1 for a top 4 finish. Can't argue with that.
Fingers crossed Blamewell does the business and yes, let's send the bugger back as soon as the bet and the club are safe.

I put 3 quid on when he was 33/1. Missed out on 40/1 by 20 mins at the time
-
Bloody hell Rob, how can you sleep at night gambling amounts like that?
;-)

I know, I literally bet ALL the change in my back pocket! don't tell our lass, she'll blow her nut! :P

I think we need Darius to start scoring a few and overtake Billy or keep up with him, just to appease the Sheff Utd fans and justify the loaning out of WLS.
I just wish we had bought him instead of loaning him. By all accounts we were very close.
I'm not sure what they are saying on the Sheff Utd Forums, but if it was this way round and us typical Donny fans......imagine this scenario, we get Billy on loan who fails to deliver and seems to be struggling. Meantime our so called best striker at the club is loaned out and starts banging them in for fun at another club. Imagine the uproar on here. That leads me to think that Sheff Utd fans must be seething re the Billy scenario.
However, and that said, I do know a few Blades fans who have been 'goin darn laaaane' for years and years. They are a decent sort and all agree Billy is a waste at Sheff Utd and ought to be sold to us, regardless of all his goals. They think he's lightweight. Now next to all their big bustling CF's he's always going to be. Funny that as we see him as one of the strongest player we've had under Sean. Oh, the contrast in styles of the managers.
They seem more than happy with their forwards when I speak with them and they rate Billy well down the pecking order. They are more concerned about the right style and the service for their forwards.
