Title: signed NSPCC shirt auction!
Post by: Bald Rover on March 22, 2010, 01:05:22 pm
I now have in my possesion a green and white NSPCC shirt as worn v Crystal Palace, it has been signed by 23 members of the playing and management staff inc SOD, ROK, JET,Billy Sharp,Brian Stock and many more!! I am auctioning this shirt to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Care which will be added to the amount I raise when myself and a few other members of this site and fellow fans do the three peaks on June 26th! I need some advice as to the best way to auction this shirt as I dont really want to pay Ebay the fees for selling it but I want to be fair to bidders! I also could do with a picture of the shirt sticking on here?? this may be a job for Sif or Rigo if they can lift the pic off facebook?? http://original.justgiving.com/carlharris is my fundraising page (not the auction page) is it possible to do an auction on here?? To be honest, i think you are best of just sticking it on ebay - I know it costs but it gets the most exposure, and the increased value should be more than enough to offset against the fees.

Do you have a price in mind?

I think you may be right so it may be put on Ebay soon! as for a price Im not sure lol can I also bid on it if I put the item on? I would like to own it myself but I was given it to auction so I have to bid like everyone else.

You wouldn't be able to place a bid if you had listed the item. There are strict rules on Ebay regarding 'Shill bidding' which is where someone bids on their own item to artificially increase the selling price.

You'd have to ask a friend/family member to bid on your behalf.

Create a separate account, in your wife`s name list it on there and then bid for it from your account or thinking about it, if you`ve got good feedback history list it in that account and bid for it in your wife`s account

If they can show a link between the two accounts they can still do you for shill bidding.

Saying that, Ebay don't normally care as it means that they get more money, they don't actively look for it, but they will look into anything if its reported by another user.
