Title: How Billy Stubbs' Tears helped me today
Post by: Dutch Uncle on March 24, 2010, 08:22:55 pm
Well it's like this. I have a few guys, mostly Dutch, who following a re-organisation now work for me. They are 'Enterprise Architects'- not an area I know much about. I am a practical minded Operational Analyst wanting problems and solutions well defined - and these architects were not really too chuffed about suddenly working for me. So I go with an open mind and speak with them. Can't understand exactly how they are going to achieve their lofty ambitions like coherence and interoperability of IT systems when they seem to be locked in an impenetrable ivory tower world of pure architecture and don't seem to be able to communicate with their operational customers. So I start trying less academic approaches and discover one of them is a Euphonium player in a Dutch Brass Band and he thinks Yorkshire is heaven on earth - OK making a little progress here, a chink of light and then.........................

Have you heard of William of Occam ................

Bloody hell says I - my friend Billy Stubbs' Tears swears to me that William of O says everything should be simple and that's exactly what you Obfuscitects don't seem to be doing.........(my street cred rising because I had actually heard of aforesaid personage)

Understandably the retort was 'Who the hell is Billy Stubbs' Tears'  :silly:

There was only one way to answer that and it involved a quite a few beverages and the ice now seems broken.......

True story and true experience of today - BST you don't know the full effects of your contributions on here

So there's now a group of Dutch Enterprise Architects well versed in the goals to games ratio of Paul Heffernan?

Nice to be of service Dutch!

Course, if the Daily Mail find out that tax payers' money is being spent (in YOUR profession of all areas) to finance teams whose coherence is only guaranteed by a few pints and the second-hand quasi-philosophical ramblings of a gobshite keyboard warrior from Donny...

Them Warp Drives at the end of them spindly struts? Offset from the centre of gravity of the entire ship? When Scotty pushed it to the point that they couldnae tek it nae more, they'd have either snapped off or sent the ship spinning like a delicate left winger after an Alan Little kiss.

It was obviously engineered by those clever chaps at Porsche. All that power hanging over the back end shouldn't work but it just does!
