In my mind our journey will not be complete until he comes 'home'. Sentimental it may be, and I can forgive him for checking if the grass is 'greener' on the other side but nothing would give me greater satisfaction if Rovers were to grace the Premiership, than to see Greeny in red & white.
Should SOD get him back ?

He went to Derby and doubled his wages.
Lets move on and don't look back- we could have said the same about McIndoe and numerous players in the past!
Greeny would be in my Rovers top 20 as would McIndoe
Cherish the memories.
There are not many who return!
Showing my age now - Can anyone remember Lawrie Sheffields return from Norwich City - I was in the crowd that game and will always remember the 'Welcome Home Laurie' Banner.
Who was it against and the score? I cannot remember.
Still a ST holder and off to Blackpool!!Pleasure Beach on Sunday and this old duffer going on the 'Big One' for the first time - There might be an empty seat in the East stand next season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:

I think the game you're referring to was my first ever Rovers game. Lawrie Sheffield re-joined us from Luton Town in October 1969 and scored in his first game back- a 3-1 win at Fellows Park, Walsall, on 31st October 1969.
His first game back at Belle Vue was on 8th November 1969 when we entertained Bristol Rovers in front of 10,065. Rovers won 3-1 with goals from Chris Rabjohn, John Haselden and John Flowers. I don't recall the banner, but I do remember the game as it was my first one.
Despite scoring six goals in 13 League starts (+ 2 subs), Sheffield moved on to Peterborough at the end of the season. I have to say I'm of the \"never go back\" school of opinion, although I might make an exception in the case of Paul Green- because I think SO'D's style of play could get so much more out of him than they currently do at Derby.

Paul Green - 27 this month - all energy and no first touch .... whilst it's pretty certain that the money isn't enough for him at DRFC, I don't want him back anyway. He only became part of SO'D's plans when all other avenues had been exhausted ... he was a good servant, but he moved away .. gone!

Without doubt a box-to-box midfielder player would improve the squad. I believe that it has been well reported that Greeny would have signed a new contract at Rovers but he was never offered one until after Wembley. By which time he had already been approached with a double your money offer by Derby. Would he take a pay cut to rejoin Rovers - you may as well ask would Billy Sharp take a pay cut to join us?
Then again if I had to chose which players to poach from Derby, Commons, Hulse and Porter would come before Greeny.

Green was a player i always questioned each time drfc moved up a level, could he?? And each time he did. He got better and better, as did we. He moved for more money and a 'bigger club'. Who can really blame him? I cant, and ill always applaud him when i see him in a opposition shirt. BUT, we have moved on, so has he. Id love to think he is always checking up on our fortunes, but he is at derby, trying to get derby in the best position he can. Good luck to him. And for the record, Commons is another irrating player who plays in the big games, and when he can be bothered, but is missing so many times. Another legend in his own mind! (Thornton anyone???) Commons, no thank u!!
