Is it working for anyone?
I'm having to listen to the Ipswich commentary.
-
me too; rubbish
-
Just posted the same thing.
-
Not working for me either.
Can't even get Ipswich bit.
-
Mayfield's on a jolly in Yarmouth for the weekend. Probably still in the pub :(
-
Its also showing every match across the leagues as being 0-0. Surely someone has scored somewhere by now. The whole Player system must be knacked
-
I've just renewed my subscription - money well spent?
-
Having problems over here as well, all scores 0.0 no commentary at all,got charlton v norwich on jazeera sports3 with live english commentary tho
-
There are results coming in on the Ipswich commentary, while Player is still showing all matches nil - nil, so something is wrong!
-
Scores now appearing on Player, but still no Rovers commentary.
-
Texted Paul, he is in the away end with the fans. He is trying find out the reason. Radio Suffolk are coming out with the classic \"Ipswich are just having an off day\"
-
It's about time they handed it back over to BBC Radio Sheff. That way we will actually get commentary every game and the commentary will be of a decent standard.
-
I don't think Chris was aware it isn't on. Just got a text from Paul saying all Chris's lights were on pity nobody is at home!

Just started commentary!
-
Not good enough is it? Rovers should be looking to get a refund from the delivery company for us all, three times this season.

Chris sounds cross!
-
for you information, if you call being on a jolly is having to look after 100 fans on the weekend, making sure they got up to no good, liasing with hotel, still running the coaches, having to make sure day buses were running, and having 56 texts sent in and out during the game trying to bring you the service , so not being able to relax during game knowing you lot were not getting the service you paid for.
i apologise for having a so called day of.........
-
Could the commentary not be handed back over to BBC Radio Sheffield?
-
contractually, radio sheffield can no longer do it all, they can help where they can, but as explained Chris had all the correct lights showing on his isdn kit,it was not a fault that Rovers could do much about till your feedback and thought everything was ok until i text through fans concerns.
At many away venues the isdn lines and facilities are far worse than the keepmoat..
-
I don't think anybody is having a pop at you Paul, but the service off Player is appalling at times, as Chris was saying once he got to broadcast. If folks don't know how hard you work, for nothing to make sure everybody gets to and from games safely, they must want their heads examined.
-
I know that we don't know all the reasons behind the broadcast of Rovers Player commentaries, but two things cross my mind.
1 - It seems that on the occasions that the Rovers commentary is off-air, the commentary of the opposition's club is working. That tends to suggest that the problem isn't necessarily a widescale technical problem for all clubs. Which in turn indicates that Doncaster Rovers comemntaries are more at risk than other clubs. Why?
2 - It is rather surprising that there is no \"double check\" to make sure that the system is working. Surely the media manager should have systems in place to catch this sort of thing before half time of matches? If they start broadcasting at 2.45pm, would it not be too much to check that it's working in the 15 minutes before kick-off? Or is that too simple? That way the fault could be spotted before kick-off time and possibly sorted out in time for 3 o'clock?
-
I agree on point 2, Mike. Finding out that its not working 15 mins into a game is just poor preparation.
At 2.45, a test signal should be broadcast (some music, perhaps), and someone (Chris?) using a laptop and 3G connection on-site should test that it's being received. Surely 15 mins heads-up that all is A-OK is all that it would take.

This makes a lot of sense. It seems crazy that Chris is working hard with no way of knowing if he's talking to himself!
