Everton v Rangers - 8 December 1987
Dubai Champions Cup (unofficially termed as the \"British Championship\")
Everton 2- 2 Rangers
Rangers won 8-7 on penalties.
Rangers victory in this match was entirely due to a very strong Rovers connection.
Have a few guesses and if you do not get it I will reveal all later.
Having witnessed some incredible displays of knowledge and memory on this board
I feel it will be answered soon.

Neil Woods scored?
Or failing that, Duggie was there on holiday, had 15 pints in his hotel room before going out for a kebab, collapsed comatose in the gutter, got arrested and birched, was released on bail, went to the match, had another gallon and a half imbibed through a tube in his nose that went down to an ale sack in his kecks, ran on the pitch and chucked up over Big Nev as the last penalty was being taken?
On reflection, scenario B sounds like the more realistic of the two.

Neville Southall in goal and Ian Snodin missed a penalty?
-
Well, that did not take long did it.
7 penalties each, successfully converted. Rangers scored their 8th through Richard Gough and up steps Mr Snodin to miss his spot kick.
I thought this question may leave a few scratching their heads. I should have known better.
I did not think about the goal keeper connection.
