Title: Premier move for Greeny?
Post by: DMnumber4 on April 30, 2010, 07:19:25 pm
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Sunderland-lining-up-move-for-Derby-midfielder-Paul-Green-with-Nigel-Clough-lining-up-Stoke-s-Michael-Tonge-as-a-replacement-article409939.html

Could be a huge week for Paul. I know it's all hear say, but now an 'international' and Premier League interest, good luck to the lad.

Thats interesting! bearing in mind that he would not get into our present midfield as a first choice, what does that tell you about the potential value of our players. B)

That Mark Wilson is worth more than £1.5M?

Anyone around DRFC would have Green back here like a shot, he is an outstanding player and to have him, Stock, Woods and Copps in the same midfield would be fantastic.

I would prefer Oster to Green with the three you mention

That's not a serious question, surely?

Interesting that Ian Atkins is the scout - played for us years ago.

Wrong ... good engine, poor first touch - Green went away.... I'd never have him back.

Greeny had a terrible 12 months under Penney, and an inauspicious start to life under SOD as a result.  I seriously thought he was totally burnt out, but in hindsight it was Penney's overbearing natue stifling his development.

During the second half of our promotion season, when SOD dropped Wilson and brought Greeny back in, he was superb and scored some fantastic goals (Millwall away, anyone?) and worked tirelessly for the team.  This was summed up in his excellent performance in the Southend home playoff game - Copps took the plaudits for his hatrick, but Greeny was the driving force through the midfield.

Losing him how and when we did hurt like buggery, but we have moved on now.  I always liked Greeny and wish him well wherever his career will take him.  (Plus he's doing the presentation at my u7s team's awards evening at the end of the month, so he's OK in my book!)

Hi Dagenham how was the girls presentation evening at the Metrodome? As you maybe aware I am the League secretary of the Sheffield Junior League and we are holding our (8) presentation nights there in a fortnight. We have Howard Webb (2 nights), Uriah Rennie, Tony Currie (2 nights) and Sean O'Driscoll presenting the awards.

On a club front Ben Smith is doing the honours at the Bessacarr presenation evening nights.

They had a good night.
Disco/karaoke, burgers/hotdogs about 2.50- 3 quid (precooked kept warm on the big \"hostess\"type trolleys. pint of lager and 1/2 of coke £4.30 at the bar ( just wander out of the hall to the foyer area to buy the kids coke etc from the vending machines  coke £1.20 a bottle  ;) )

I really felt quite sorry for Howard Webb as it was the younger girls presentation his knees must really have felt it with a couple of hours worth of kneeling for photos, he stayed ages signing the kids pictures he was still there signing when we left just before 10.00pm (dephotos taking pictures so no doubt no need to tell you the prices  :P )
I was there with my daughter,  under 11's undefeated in the league  and only conceded 4  goals all season, When you consider the same girls  only won 1 or 2 games  last season its a great achievement.

The kids had a good night and thats what it's all about.

Only trouble I had was finding the Metrodome
