If by 'the plot thickens' you mean Hunt would be looked at as a replacement for Roberts, then it hasn't. We now need a new left back to replace McDaid, as Roberts is our only left back. I know Chambers plays there sometimes but he is predominantly right back, and we could very easily be signing Hunt to compete with Roberts.
I've not heard of him before but looks like he has a lot of experience in League 2. Not too old and has of course just won the division with his club, so might be worth a look, especially on a free transfer.
-
If DRFC Require a Left back, i suggest they go for Ian Harte, out of contract at Carlisle, still young enough to play at Championship level, and chips in with more goals than enough.
-
He plays centre back for them now and apparently defensively he's not been too great.

Ian Harte
Useless defender even when he was supposed to be good. Now he's found his level and reminds us of his existance by popping in a free kick now and again.

Chambers is an excellent RB, but he looks like a fish out of water on the other side - completely out of his comfort zone.
Why would the club sell on McDaid (who is a more than adequate replacement and squad player) to bring in someone of the same mould? Plus, McDaid can play midfield if required.
Fair enough if we had the money for someone who would likely push Roberts out of his place but that doesn't look remotely likely with other key positions needing cover first.

I agree Chambers is nowhere near as good at left back-he is spectacularly one-footed with hinders him. As for McDaid, I didn't rate him in League 1 so despite his versatility I don't think he has the quality to play for us at this level. That said I felt the same about Woods and when he got a chance to step up he showed it. McDaid never got that chance.

Still got a year left on his contract.

After chatting to some Notts fans they said that Hunt has come leaps and bounds, they said been great this year and want him to stay.

Somebody dig out the thread/match report after the notts county game in the cup. I said then this lad was pretty good and would fit in nicely in our team. Tall, athletic and looks an excellent wing back. I'm claiming that signing if we get him. Will settle for Taylor or him to push for left wing back

Of the two, it's The Ginger Flash all the way for me .
