Title: An interesting yet scary statistic
Post by: RyansArmy on May 05, 2010, 03:16:19 pm
Not that I want to scare anyone, but I have seemed to notice that each year a team that previously finished in 10th 11th or 12th have been the relegated the following season, this goes as far back as the 2004-05 season which saw 10th placed Millwall relegated the next season, in 2005-06 season Luton Town secured 10th place, to be relegated the next season, in that season (2006-07) Colchester United finished in the 'cursed' 10th place to be (yeah you guessed right) relegated in the season that followed, in that season, the 2007-08, saw Charlton Athletic in 11th place, and in one of my favourable seasons, the 2008-09 saw them relegated, and in that season, sheffield wednesday finished 12th place, and in 2009/10 season just gone they were relegated, is it possible that next year we could be in a dog fight? Bristol City, Middlesbrough and of course Doncaster Rovers sit in 10th, 11th and 12th place respectivley? will this top half finish curse be our downfall?

On another forum there is a long standing discussion about 'the curse of 10th' place. Every side who has finished 10th since Millwall back in 2004 has been releated within two years of that 10th place finish. Worrying news for Bristol City who have finished there twice in succession now!

I don't think you can claim a curse on the other two slots though, I prefer to stick with the curse of 10th, not the curse of 10th, 11th, 12th. :P

Im no mr know-it-all but In 2007-08 Plymouth Finished in 10th place to have 2 years in the championship, with last season finishing 21st, so maybe finishing 10th consercutivley is just a co-incidence
