Title: The day we survived relegation
Post by: BLIR on May 05, 2010, 09:46:37 pm
Not sure if it has been mentioned on here already, apologies if it has......

Anyway, I've looked back through our results now the season is over. Wednesday went down with 47 points and we went from 45 to 48 points (effectively securing league survival) through a last minute John Oster goal away at Peterborough on March 16th - 10 games from the end of the season.

Irrelevant maybe, but I thought it interesting?????

And we won after going behind. I don't think we've done that too often under SOD?

I think we did it only a game or two later last season too.  Wasn't it the win at Ipswich that effectively secured our safety?

We went 1-0 at Ipswich last season, so we didnt really turn it around despite bieng on the backfoot from then on.

Last year we did it at Blackpool away (3-2) and Derby at home (2-1), and i beleive the season before I think we only did it at Swansea away (2-1) and port vale away (3-1)

Last season we all but secured safety at Ipswich but it wasnt statistcally secured untill that great day at Plymouth since two of the teams below us played each other (because some people do beleive it was crystal palace) this season funnily enough we were stastically safe at Blackpool away or West Brom at home (depends if you want to look through all the fixtures or not)

Why did we not start to discuss contracts with out of contract players at this point? or at least when we reached the 50 point barrier???
