All the best to Robbo, great season for us, although I for one won't lose to much sleep about this as I thought our defence looked very strong in 08/09 with Chambo left back and JOC right back. We could go back to this, maybe sign Shackell and the jobs a good en in my eyes. ;)

Good luck to Gareth, but I am disappointed as he is a very good player, he really stepped up this season. But, at 32 and playing in a position in which he is easily replaceable, then it's nothing like losing Greeny two years ago. I do wish that SOD would change his contracts policy, it's now going to have cost us two first-team players.
Definitely don't want Chambers back at left back. His lack of a left foot really hinders him on that side, I'd prefer we sign somebody else.

Are we happy that it's Sean?
Although this is looking ominous, it's from a site run by the Derby Evening Telegraph with no direct quotes from anybody, and there's nothing on their official site (although you wouldn't expect there to be anyway)
As said another great player for us, that's transformed a dream into reality ala Heffs, Pricey, Cammo, Wellens, Mills et al. I would like a tall athletic left back that can defend and attack (Taylor), but if not we have done well with JOC/Chambo in the full back roles. I appreciate the balance of Chambo at LB, but he's done pretty well there IMO. Now a new left back, JOC and Chambo would give us good strength in depth.
Also losing Greeny, as many are comparing this too, did not cause us any problems at all. We had the best and most dominant midfield I have seen at Donny in my time (inclusive of this season) immediately after he went.

How about replacing him with this younger, taller, faster model?

As long aswe don't replace him with Spurr from Swillsboro i'm sure we'll not suffer too much. GR's had a great season and been a good servant but at 32 he's replaceable with a younger model.
-
If he was to go (and I hope he doesn't) then we could do a lot worse than replace him with the left back that Derby have let go.

I suggested that but people reckoned Mcevally is on 15k a week.
-
If that's right, then there's a lot of scope to offer more than the 4 or 5k Gareth's probably on here.
You'd think Savage and Hulse are probably on more so getting them off the wage bill would be even more important for them.

Not anymore he isn't!
Seriously though, if he was earning anything like that then that's just barmy and I can see why they've let him go.

The same website that said Sean O'Driscoll had become the new Burnley manager, I think I shall wait for somewhere more reliable.

They're certainly not that reliable these days. They've become a bit of a rumour mill.
Anyhow, the rumours say Gareth is off, it seems likely. Key thing is we replace him with someone younger who has potential. That has to be a key thing for SOD this window, get players with potential in, that'll stand us in good stead for a fair while. We could probably do with a clear-out and a chance to build a new team. A bit like Penney did before he left. Didn't work right away but he did make a lot of good signings before he left (Roberts, O Connor, Lockwood for example).

John he was on £15k, I have a colleague who is Derby season ticket holder, yes that is why he was released from their wage bill same has they are trying to sell Hulse and Commons.
Also along with Scunthorpe and Peterborough we have one of the lowest wage average of £3000 a week. Therefore to compete with other Championship sides and the two clubs promoted from league one will be difficult.

Chuffing hell, Robbo's been \"close\" for over 3 days now! Its like waiting to be hung (parliament).
