we are plagued on this forum with people saying if the club spends copious amounts of money on new exciting glamorous players the fans will flock to shell out their hard earned money on a shiny new season ticket
so where is the proof for this hypothesis?
the last time that i can remember the club splashing out was 2007/8 season when we signed wellens woods hayter previous to that we signed 5 players in 5 days in 2006
can anyone with superior search skills remind me what if any impact this had on ST sales?
the proof of the pudding etc etc

What we need is a Major cup run with a massive scalp and the following press exposure.

so i am guessing by the lack of replies that all this
\"buy some fab players and the season ticket sales will go through the roof\" stuff is completely unfounded
thought so

The proof is in the pudding!

Have you considered the reverse?
Don't buy any players and watch the season ticket sales go down?
Hmmm is this theory completely unfounded also?

To be fair I'd be there if Wellred and Alan Southstand were lining up for us in attack. Chicken and egg though isn't it and nobody really knows the answer. I personally don't believe signings make people buy STs who weren't going to. We can all do our bit though, I convinced a lad and his family to get STs this week who didn't have them last year.

Christ on a bike. If you had me in attack then everyone really would be moaning and you would think Mark Wilson was Lionel Messi.

After the Richardson years and first season in conference when i just used to pay on the gate, the signing of Mike Newell for some reason got me to purchase a season ticket. Had one ever since regardless of whose signed or left the club.
So i suppose a major signing may get a few people to sign up but as i went to most games anyway did it really make a difference?

the inverse is true ... lose your best and the fans dwindle away too!Gregg, Tindill,Sheffield, Warboys, Deane , Snodin,Elwiss.... it is part of our club's history and ONLY since JR has there been any optimism.
