who out there in football land had ever heard of Jason Shackell and Elliot Ward before they had signed ? Rigo you're not allowed to reply cos you are a walking encyclopedia
I for one hadn't
WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ??????????????????????
Im sure there are players out there who can do just as good a job on less wages. If there aren't then football is in a shocking state
All SOD has to do now is do a search on Football Manager and filter out the better ones.

I had.

I had
Seen Ward play for both West Ham and Coventry
Shackell i had heard of but not really seen him play, didn't realise he had played a season for Norwich in Premier League though.
-
I'd heard of Ward before and always thought he was an excellent player, and very surprised that he wasn't getting in Chris Coleman's Coventry starting 11, also at the start of this season Ward was on Soccer AM with Clinton Morrison. And as for Shackell, didn't he score for Norwich at the Keepmoat in our 1st season back in CCC? Or was that Jonathan Grounds from Boro?
-
Shackell was one of Norwich's best players in their Premier League season, even being described by Jose Mourinho as \"a raw John Terry.\"
Ward also used to get in the West Ham team when they went back up to the Prem, and was pretty well known when at Coventry.
-
Think it was Grounds

I was aware of them both, but only due to the fact that I had a very entertaining life on football manager, Ward I had heard of more than Shackell, but I agree with this post, there is hidden talent everywhere and SOD has proved that with nearly every signing (except tomi ameobi) He changed mills from 300k into a remarkable profit. And the players such as JOC and Hayter were brought through his system at bournemouth, SOD will find an adequate replacement for lower wages, he hates publicity, so signing big names isnt really on his radar, we all know that, and that is probably one reason why he will be cautious to lay down a contract for Sharp.

And John Paul Pittman.
And Danny Cadamarteri.
And Theo Streete.
And Harry Worley.

JP had talent, just not what we needed,
Streete and Worley were not as effective as say Mills, or Shackell, but Cademateri was not exactly a player who spent all his years in the shadows, he was quite a great player in his time in the premiership and was a player most fans over the age of 20 had heard of when he same to us for that short period.
