Think we are having problems?? - Williams - Reading, Hayes-Preston and now today McCann leaves to Posh !!!!
-
Very true, that's three of their best players gone for nowt within a few weeks of the close season and if Hooper leaves (which is very likely) that's four good ens gone.
Really puts our so-called 'crisis' into perspective.
-
All out of contract, if you hadn't noticed only two of ours have re-signed so far so lets not throw mud just yet eh?
They did fantastically well to stay up last season, particularly after spending a large chunk of their available wonga on that Jones donkey, who quite a few on here thought we should have signed!! You've got to think they will also lose Hooper, albeit for a sizable fee, but they'll continue to live within their means and credit to them for that!! Doubtless they, along with the Play Off winners, will be favourites for relegation again but my Scunny mate claims they have two superb young strikers coming through so who knows??? :S
-
We need to find out how Scunny unearth these promising strikers they do it time and again. Put us to shame in that department.
-
Agreed, but we have a superb young striker coming through also if we can get him to sign a new contract.
I think Fairhurst has a great future and we need to get him to commit long term.
-
Would you sign if you scored 2 in 2 at the beginning of the season then got dropped and loaned out?
-
I think the loaning out was part of the development and could see the sense in that.
The more worrying aspect was him not featuring very much in the last few games when he could have been given a run of games.
Suppose it depends what other options are on the table and what future role the current management see for you before I would personally commit.
-
No doubt in my mind that Fairhurst is going to be a massive player in the future he simply has it all with a build very much like Mr Rooney, great awareness and positioning to sniff out a goal besides being able to become provider!

I've got a theory.Glandford park is a tight little pitch hence the scunny striker's over a course of a game will have far more scoring chances than on a large pitch therefore an higher goals per match ratio. It also explains why they concede alot of goals too,the away strikers get more chances per game.Thats my theory anyway

Jesus...is that all it takes for SOD to bomb himout for the rest of last season?
There was ample opportunity to give him a run out in those meaningless last few games of last season, but Fairhurst didnt get a sniff.
You could hardly blame him if he chose to ply his trade elsewhere, considering he is undoubtedly a talented foward, that would be a crying shame.

a bit perjorative!
he was just coming back from an injury
there was still something to play for up to the last 2-3 games
other players were equally pushing for some game time
and i dont think that SOD does experimenting in first team games the reason he played when he did was down to injuries
i think he does rate him but feels he is not ready yet
not every player benefits/copes with being thrown in at the deep end
-
I would suggest the two games at the start of the season he was very much thrown in at the deep end.
WBA away and he scores a goal in the first 10 minutes???
I think he coped pretty well don't you?
