Title: Makkelijk voor Dennis?
Post by: Dutch Uncle on May 26, 2010, 04:49:08 pm
Following Roving Reporter's foray into Dutch and the discovery of a centre-back called Matthew Molens I decided to create an all time Rovers team with names literally translated into Dutch. They are mostly recent players but a couple of older ones for BobG, Billy Stubbs Tears,  and other contemporaries. How many can you recognise:

D.Pauw

J.Kamers
A.Slotbos
B.Kleermaker
P.Koffiemelk

I.Molenaar
B.Voorraad
A.Klein
M.Bosjes

B.Scherp
P.Keuken

Subs (Onderzeers): F.Pottenbakker, B.Slik, C.Beuk, R.Raafheuvel, M.Uitverkoop, L.Vent, JJ Prijs

Not a bad wee starting eleven. I toyed with Ian and Glyn Ingesneeuwd (Snowed-in), but they can be the management duo.

Groetjes

Doh, P.Keuken is obviously Peter Kitchen if I just worked it out.
By the way Dutch, whereabouts are you over there. I come over footballing every year so I know the country pretty well.

Some smart people on here. Here's the full list:-

D.Pauw (Dennis Peacock)

J.Kamers (James Chambers)
A.Slotbos (Adam Lockwood)
B.Kleermaker (Brian Taylor)
P.Koffiemelk (Peter Creamer)

I.Molenaar (Ian Miller)
B.Voorraad (Brian Stock)
A.Klein (Alan Little)
M.Bosjes (Martin Woods)

B.Scherp (Billy Sharp)
P.Keuken (Peter Kitchen)

F.Pottenbakker (Fred Potter),
B.Slik (Barry Swallow),
 C.Beuk (Chris Beech),
R.Raafheuvel (Ricky Ravenhill)
M.Uitverkoop (Mark Sale),
L.Vent (Lewis Guy)
JJ Prijs (JJ Price)

I had to laugh a few years ago when we had a sponsor Plas-Vent (Double-glazing?)
Vent is colloquial Dutch for Guy and Plas similarly for pee........so Plas-Vent was sort of 'p*sshead' for me
