Post by: the artist formerly known as kendoddsdadsdogsdead on May 26, 2010, 11:07:33 pm
or anybody else for that matter
driving up to Edinburgh this Saturday, looking to stop somewhere just off the A1 in North Yorkshire for a good hearty Yorkshire breakfast.
I hate motorway services, do you know of a decent cafe in Bedale or anywhere close that'll do a good brekkie?

ta in advance

... he's not wrong

Take A66 to Sedbury Lay by a mere 600 yards or so and they have all sorts of Breakfasts Pies Sandwiches Sausage Rolls etc and drinks of all types (except Alcoholic)

It is a brick built take away shop catering for mostly lorry drivers BUT the fodder seems ok and there is a bog

On leaving you have to leave the Lay by and double back up the 66 to head north again

For more refinement head to Richmond and park in Market Place -FREE - but you need a Disc from any local shop. Plenty of Cafes there

if you are still of a mind to go further afield central cafe in catterick garrison is alright

reasonable cafe in bedale \"farmhouse kitchen\"

or couple of cafes at fishing complexes near thirsk woodlands lakes at carlton minniot just off A61

or oaks lakes at sessay

both do decent brekkie

also there is a cafe at londonderry (near the garage) but last time went in a bit dubious

or just on the A1  at ainderby quernow just before the masham turn  not sure what that is like though ie degree of grease

bet you wished yo hadnt asked now!

Trouble with the Scotch corner layby cafe is it's the most popular meeting place for Wasps and Bees and other annoying flying parasites in the world.

We stopped off there whislt taking the scenic route to an away fixture at Carlisle a few seasons back and had a terrific brekkie in a cafe on the Marketplace. Well worth setting off early doors and taking that route with a couple of country pub stops squeezed in.
