According to Sky sports anyway ;)
http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11688_6190633,00.html
Good news if true!
-
That will make my weekend, heres to hoping.............
-
Skysports.com understands
Lets wait and see eh? wwe know what sky sports are like for making things up
-
What skysports.com don't understand is Mark Wilson has run off with our signing pen and there is now a queue for signing on the dotted line, including oster, hayter, sharp and garner
-
how do we know its true cos its not on dros yet?
-
I really hope this is true. Then we've at least got a decent back line and a decent midfield :)
-
Who cares? Clearly the important thing is what type and colour of pen he used.
On a serious note, let's hope so, he seems highly rated and on a free it's a good deal for us. Could be the next one to come in, improve and become a top player, I hope that's the case.

It is true, Mark Wilson was the last person to have the pen in his possession, it was on DROS when he signed :)
-
It seems more true as its on the website. the Burnley offer for Billy never made the website :)
-
no i mean bout tom kennedy its not on dros yet :(
-
I was lead to believe that there was only 1 pen?! they got it free with renting the stadium, it is black with smc wrote on the side
like you said on a serious note I hope they find the pen and he does sign! Quality player with a cracking free kick

It won`t be on DROS until he signs and Mark Wilson has got the pen! :silly:

I cannot see how this has been progressed without the signing pen.
If Wilson has it, then I'm sure he's not living in Donny.
We may have explored the possibility of loaning an emergency pen, and hopefully DRFC will have done this, with WH Smiths Albion being mentioned
-
Wilson's from Scunny, that pen walked ages ago and is probably on Fleabay as we speak!! ;)
-
I won't belive it untill it has been in the Sun
-
Waccoe is a bit funny at the minute, they are saying that because he has apparently signed for us, it must mean that they weren't even in for him because obviously no one would chose Rovers over Leeds - someone even mentioned we may have offered him more money, I spat my drink out!
-
Right! I've had enough of this! lets all ring SOd on his personal phone and get the truth!
his number is '123 456 789' :woohoo:

Oh aye, blooming typical, something goes wrong and blame it on Wilson, the season's not even started yet. As anyone with even a smattering of knowledge would already know, people from Scunthorpe are not allowed to use pens or sharp pencils and Mark signed with his own crayon. I understand it was a red one that he has painted white hoops on so its 'rovers colours'.
My source was unable to confirm (or deny) that the hold up with Oster siging is because 'wilson's got one so I want one'.

Sorry Wilts, forgot that small fact, unforgivable.......................................... :S

Forgive me for going back to the original topic. Does anyone think we have actually signed him, or if it's Sky jumping on the rumour bandwagon?
-
Just dont believe anything Sky say at the moment, they will report on any slight scrap of info. I wont believe it until its on the O/S, there is nothing mentioned anywhere else of any substance.

well I think there's something in it. Before this was on skysports I heard he was in donny for talks, so might be some truth in it, afterall at the moment ssn like breaking the news before it's actually happened
Ps has anyone found Wilson and got that pen off him? I don't think he realised it wasn't part of his deal!
-
Be very surprised if it reaches DROS today, it's a lovely afternoon and they'll have their feet up in a garden somewhere. It's not like anyone sees running that site as a job. Why bother releasing news today, there's always tomorrow, infact forget that it's the weekend tomorrow. Maybe Monday, although sometimes the thought of going back into work after the weekend is tiring. Hopefully we can get some confirmation on Tuesday. Failing that the Free Press is out on Thursday.

I understand from my reliable sources that the 'magic SMC' pen has now arrived in Tahiti with Willo............hope he remembers to bring it back!
Again on a serious note , by all accounts, a good signing and a 3 year one at that. What's happening here we and the pen don't do 3 years do we ?
-
If true we have a younger just as good Gareth Roberts
'We've got Tom Kennedy! We've got Tom Kennedy!'......could be one to chant at Bell...soz Elland Road

I thinks that's a fair assessment. Could be because he hasn't had a medical yet and the doctor's waiting room was full, so he'll have to come back from Rochdale next week, so we might be lucky to see it in the Free Press next week.

By time it's up on DROS his contract will be up for Renewal if true

I hate to be a wet blanket but that article on SSN does NOT say he's signed for the Rovers. It says 'SSN understands that TK has agreed....' There's a whole huge world of difference I'm afraid..... Apart from the BBC, there is only one other news organ I'd distrust as much as that megalomaniac shower of shite.
Cheers

I'm liking your vibe here mate. I have to agree with you and suggest we are too hard on the DROS gang. Their week is clearly a rigid scheduled one, and on this I feel we all expect too much:
Monday - Recovering from the weekend, plenty of latte's and a good old natter on what they've been up too.
Tuesday - Well I suppose we'd better phone round all the DRFC/Keepmoat offices and see what the chuffs been happening or going to happen. After an intensive ball breaking day of phoning and talking about the weekend again, they've finally might have an article, but it's too late to put it on DROS. f**k it, let's leave it whilst Wednesday, it's nearly 3pm
Wednesday - Let's publish all the findings from Tuesdays hectic day..... Right team, what do we have: Lottery results, Football in the Community in Fishlake Primary School and a couple of Junior Rovers pictured with Donny Dog. Let's rock this site.
Thursday - Do we need to do owt, as Free Press is out today anyway.
Friday - Are they serious, we're on wind down.
As you can see, and once again our expectation levels are set way too high. These crazy kids are busy busy busy
-
apparently one of the insurence companies are giving away pens just for the asking
parker pens no less
-
megalomaniac shower of shite
Yes, but what do you really think, Bob? ;)

I'd imagine the wording is down to his contractual situation, similar to Gareth Roberts who is 'set for Derby.' Officially Roberts is still contracted to Doncaster Rovers and Kennedy is contracted to Rochdale until the end of this month, when those contracts expire and the pre-contracts they have signed with their new clubs kick in.
I may be jumping the gun, but in this case I'd trust the Sky article and read nothing into the fact that we've had no official confirmation, simply because nobody at the club is particularly interested in the official site. It was common knowledge that Wilson had signed last weekend, SO'D had given interviews to the press about it and these had been published, but it took until Wednesday this week for the media team to cobble together the energy to confirm it officially.
-
At the same time Sky published the Kennedy story, they also stated that Rochdale has re-signed their winger.
A few days later and it popped up on Rochdale's OS Link (http://www.rochdaleafc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10441~2064795,00.html).
It seems like the news has come from Rochdale and the fact that the story about the winger came good is maybe a good sign.
From what I've read about Kennedy from Rochdale boards, they seems to be in unanimous agreement that he is a cracking player.
What is encouraging is the fact that two of our rivals were chasing him. Comments like this from a L**ds board make it all the sweeter if true.
He's also being chased by Doncaster and Scunthorpe (you'd hope we should have no problems getting him then if we're actually interested).
If he has chosen Donny then, without being a big-headed Leeds fan, I can't help but feel that we weren't actually in for him.
-
I'm confident we'll sign him, the Manchester evening news expects him to como here too.

Why would the champions of europe be after a League 2 player?
