I have heard from a very reliable source that we have beaten off QPR and another Championship side to sign a 21 year old striker, who has agreed to join us from a L1 club. Watch this space.

If true, then the only one I can think of that fits the bill has initials that have been allover the news lately.

I dont want to name the player for obvious reasons as we've lost too many signings in the past, but he knows 'Doncasters style of football well' ;-)

so is it brett pitman then or not ? could see it as a bit of a risk is he proven like billy sharp ? is he in the billy sharp mould it wouldnt surprise me if theres a forigner being lined up as a bit of a shock you dont go scouting abroad for nowt do you ?????

Even if we sign Billy, we still need another striker surely.
At the moment only Brooker and Fairhurst are on the books, with Hayter out of contract in 3 weeks.

We've lost Heffernan, Guy and Sharp from last season so I would suggest we need a bare minimum of two, but hopefully 3 strikers to replace the shortfall.

Dean Bowditch. Ex-Ipswich player now playing with Yeovil Town. He scored 10 in 30 last season.
Not sure if he's 22 but I do know that he's fairly young.

He's only a slip of a bairn though. He'd get knocked from Pillar to Post by the centre backs in this division. The fans would be Oblivious to him.
We need a striker who is Deep and Wide and Tall.

He has told his Dad that he wants to join us and no-one else, but he hasn't signed yet. I am erring on the side of discretion to be on the safe side. I only started this thread to allay peoples fears that we weren't actively doing anything apart from hoping to get Billy.
