Still nothing from the club on the official site. Maybe they will anounce signings on July 1st when players contracts seem to start.

Or it could be Sean wanting to do the \"right things\".  Kennedy's contract doesnt expire at Rochdale until July 1st.

Do you still think that might be right Rob or was doing the \"right thing's\" including letting Leicester pinch him from under our nose's?  :(  I know its SSN but It does seem he has signed for Leicester now. :(

I think Rovers are guilty of waving the white flag every time another Club come sniffing for one of their potential signings.

Its a bit \"Oh, well xxxx are intersted in him....lets look elsewhere\", does get a bit demoralising time after time after time.

Seriously for a second, is anyone really that disappointed that we seem to have lost out on a defender who was playing in League2 last season?

Whoever we sign, he's going to have to be pretty damn good to keep James or Jimmy out of the side. Can't see Jimmy playing at centre half all season and he's far too good to be a squad player.

We`ve seen it every close season, we`re slow off the mark when it comes to transfer targets, I`ve said it before, we need to be more aggressive when pursuing potential targets. I agree, our inability to sign our targets and also get players to re-sign promptly is having a demoralising effect on folk like me, a regular season ticket holder, so what signals does this send out to potential season ticket holders?

The silence from the club is deafening!

Yes disappointed because it shows when it comes to wages we cannot compete for the best players that will improve our squad. GR kept Jimmy and James out of the LB last year and we kneqw we had capable players to come in when GR was unfit. We do not have a capable player to fill in now and certainly not a player that will improve the squad.
We will hear next we cannot sign players because of low season ticket sales. But it was JR who said we were going for the playoffs. Yet we cannot afford the targets we wanted, this is not being slow it is the budget for players cannot be big enough. Sean has to rebuild again with his arms tide behind his back.

We've got Dumbuya - if he's not good enough to cover for James/Jimmy then I don't know why he's here. I think we either need a proven CCC level left back and have James/Jimmy competing for right back, or stick with them as first choice and get another youngster like Dumbuya as cover. Having 4 quality fullbacks is probably out of the question at this stage, and there's always the loan market.

Part of the problem is that once Rovers show they are interested in a player other managers will take an interest as they know SoD won't buy rubbish. As someone pointed out on another thread, it's almost impossible to keep targets under wraps as their agents are not likely to keep secrets.

Personally I'd have been surprised if Kennedy had joined and been in the starting 11.

Maybe the whole Kennedy thing was smoke and mirrors. Perhaps we will raid Wingate and Finchley for a former team mate of Dumbaya, let's hope we are not gazumped by a late bid from Armthorpe Welfare.

Maybe not too far from the truth. We're still a minnow in this league and unless/until we can fill the stadium regularly then not much will change.

Kennedy was released by the mighty Bury 3 years ago.

I'll just say 'the loan market' again, in case anyone has forgotten.

Erm, probably not now.   :S

This one was a case of us making a very good package for him, it all looking very positive, and Leicester just blowing everyone out of the water with their package.

To me, what they are paying him a week represents a huge gamble for someone unproven at this level (and believe me, its more than any of our current players are on by a significant margin).  This league is littered with players on huge deals who dont cut it at the \"big\" clubs that take them on.  You would have thought Leicester would have been a bit more cautious given their \"once bitten...\" status.
