Maybe worth a watch?

Man United - Into the Red

John Sweeney investigates the level of debt at Manchester United under the controversial ownership of Malcolm Glazer, and whether a potential takeover bid by the Red Knights could succeed. The programme also assesses the wider implications for football as its most famous club faces a concerted revolt from fans and a future of financial uncertainty

Typical Panorama really, didn't really find much new but put it across in a style aimed at being controversial.

One hardly can view the programme as controversial. I thought the programme put things across exactly as they are financially as far as the Premier League is concerned, massively in debt clubwise to the tune of a total of 3.5 billion quid, which in no way is sustainable. The dung is going to hit the proverbial fan before before too long.
Foreign investment procured on the basis of debt ridden loans coupled with unjustifiable players salaries will inevatibly lead to clubs going to the wall. Interesting to note that tonights Panorama programme was aired on the same day as the BBC highlighted the amount being paid in wages to PL footballers in relation to turnover of the Prem League league (65% and forecast to rise). I thought Dave Whelans (Wigan Athletic) comments in the programme were very forthright and accurate, in that, much in line with the Rovers Board, his Club MUST at least break even.
I'm so pleased we have a Board that realises the Club must operate (to survive) within it's means. It certainly won't cut with all the fans ambitions and aspirations, but it's the only way.
